Yeah, they're not the best harps in the world. There may be an issue with one or more harps in the pack, but all of mine played true right out of the box. They're a little quiet, but have spot-on tuning, and they play and bend with little effort. The case alone is woth the money. It's made of wood with metal hinges, and cowered in rip-stop nylon. Very tough. It's graet to have at a jam session when you don't know what key the next song is going to be in. I go to alot of music festivals, so I may be playing outside in the dark after I've had a few. If I lose one of these, I'm not out that much cash, so I'm even more happy with the set. I saw a lot of bad reviews, but trust me, It's more than worth the price.

I thought I would buy these harmonicas for when one of my good one's messed up. I could use one of these bluesband harps till I got another one. I read a few reviews on them and some people made em sound ok. Well all I can say if them people found these harmonicas "ok" then they CANNOT know anything about music. I got these harps and all seven of them were defective!! I could not believe it, I knew I shouldn't expect much but come on. On everyone of them starting at the 6th hole to the 8th hole you CANNOT draw on them, and they call them a "blues harp"?
on top of that they have NO volume what so ever. It says on the box,"this is not a toy, this is a musicical instrument" what a joke. I wanted my money back because they did not work and I seen how cheap they were so I contacted the Hohner business and they told me all they would do is replace them with one's that work. I told them I wanted my money back and they told me NO. I was treated like a number, not a person at all. seem like to me when you buy something and it doesn't work you should get the option to return it. there customer service was terrible!!!! I'm chosing to take a loss and not send them back because I don't want to get more junk that won't work. It would be an ongoing process to even get some that would work. Even if you did get some that worked they are so quiet you could never be heard over another insrtument. I'm going to give them to my 3 year old daughter for x-mas, maybe she could get some use out of them. Did i mention they make your mouth taste like cheap plastic. I would never
recommend these to ANYONE, SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!

Comments about Hohner Blues Band Seven-Piece Harmonica Set 1501:

The bottom line is only buy if you want the experience of
being a harmonica tuner/mechanic. My review is anecdotal
based on my experience with 8 BluesBands, a Golden Melody,a Marine Band and a Special 20. BluesBands had a 20 percent failure: a least one reed would not play, was dragging on the slot and, therefore, muted, or gapped too high or too low, requiring too much effort to play. I was able to fix all these problems with about 10-20 minutes work on each. The problem is quality control associated with assembly. This is such a shame, there is
no significant difference mechanically between BluesBand and Special 20. But Special 20s have fewer problems. My advice is only buy the harps you will really need, these
will be mostly in keys C, A, D, and G in that order. Lee Oscars, and Suzuki Mangis are reasonably priced, and represent the better economy: 4 quality harps rather than
        7 with problems.

These may improve with time and playing, but for now, they need a good set of lungs to get any sound out. A few of the notes have slight intonational problems

        DO NOT BUY THESE HARMONICAS.

Comments about Hohner Blues Band Seven-Piece Harmonica Set 1501:

I am a professional harmonica instructor. I bought this set of harmonicas to see if they might be an option for my students to purchase and have multiple harmonica keys.

I've been performing harmonica professionally on stage for 35 years. Even with all of that experience and experience in tweaking and adjusting harmonicas for better play. I could never get these harmonicas even playable for beginner level.

Anybody interested in learning harmonica? Don't waste your time or money on these harmonicas. They are so impossible to play that you will get totally turned off to learning the harmonica. Harmonica players they are a total waste of money. They leak horribly and the reeds are so stiff and poorly constructed you'll feel like you are playing a harmonica you already have blown out.

I could not believe Hohner would even put their name on these harmonicas. They are not even good enough for basic simple straight harp playing.

I've played all the Hohners, Seydel, etc. and I always come back to the Lee Oskars. You can't beat them. In 35 years of performing professionally. I've never had a reed break off and go flying in my mouth. Until I played Seydel Harmonicas. It happened twice and could be a deadly scenario if it made it down your windpipe.

If you are someone with an interest in learning Harmonica. Spend the money for a good harmonica, Lee Oskar or a plastic comb Hohner like Special 20, or Big River. You won't regret it. Once I move my new harmonica students over to a Lee Oskar, from whatever cheap harmonica they walk in with. Their progress increases rapidly.

Comments about Hohner Blues Band Seven-Piece Harmonica Set 1501:

These harps are definitely great for beginners. They do come with 7 different keys, and they are all pretty much in tune. However, you can just tell that these are relatively cheaply made. They are, after all, economy harps. But, with that said, they get the job done, and if you are on a budget, would be a good buy.

I knew going into this purchase that these were "economy" harps. The sound is not so good. It takes some extra air to play these harps and there are a few notes that are not in tune. It is difficult to bend the notes because of the amount of air required. The case is pretty nice and I planed to use it with the old harps I have that still sound good. I didn't expect much from the new harps, so I wasn't too surprised, but nice zippered case.

I'm just beginning on harmonica so I won't claim to be an expert, but these seem to have good tone and are fairly well made. The case is exceptional and offers great protection for the instruments. Over all, I'm very satisfied with the product.
