It cuts you free from the mic cable while enhancing all your hand-cupping effects

Consisting of a bodypack transmitter with belt clip, a dual diversity UHF receiver, and the innovative Hoodoo Ring microphone, the Hoodoo Hand Harmonica Wireless Microphone System frees you from being tethered to your microphone. You can roam the stage while enjoying perfect mic placement at all times.

The Hoodoo Hand system allows you to use your natural hand cupping and playing techniques while eliminating the need to deal with bulky bullet-style wired microphones that have traditionally been the primary choice for live performance among blues harp players. The patented Hoodoo Ring Microphone is a tiny Lavalier mic that's been tweaked to produce the low-fi, overdriven sound most blues players crave, while still being capable of producing relatively clean output when the music or your style requires it. The mic nestles in a clip with two finger holes that slip over your middle and ring fingers. Hohner includes two clips with different finger hole diameters to fit a wide range of finger sizes. The beauty of the design becomes obvious the moment you begin playing. Without a bulky mic occupying most of the cavity formed by your cupped hands, an acoustic space is created for producing a wide range of effects like flutters and tremolos. And because it's easy to create a tight seal between your hands and mouth, your sound has all the punch and dynamics you could hope for.

The dual-diversity UHF-band receiver has both 1/4" and balanced XLR outputs so you can send your signal to either an amp or the PA. The front panel has a convenient rotary volume knob for fast onstage adjustments and indicators for power, normal and peak signal levels, and lights that indicate which antenna is in use. The system also comes in a durable plastic travel case.

Comments about Hohner Hoodoo Hand Harmonica Wireless Microphone System:

Have had the thin gauge wire rip out twice in the past two weeks. Immediately unuseable. Bought new unit to see how wiring connections were made and its wire ripped off on the second day. Its most desireable aspects are eliminated if it can only be used up on stage like a wired mic. In search of getting them repaired. Don't feel like buying a third unit just to do the next show!

      Great Harmonica Mic System

      By TheLoneRanger

      from Madison

Comments about Hohner Hoodoo Hand Harmonica Wireless Microphone System:

Wow. Impressive.I am porting this through a Peavey Studio Pro 40 guitar amp, not the best thing to be using for the harp, and this system still rocks! Great range and great sound, clean and dirty. I have a Shure 520DX (again, not like the original 520) and to be honest, I like this better. Only negative is the mic cord, which is awful thin and just looks like it could be an issue down the road. I also looked online at Hohner and no parts listed. Accompanying booklet is lacking, too. But so what. This is a great mic!

      Hoo do you Love

      By The mighty Maurice

Comments about Hohner Hoodoo Hand Harmonica Wireless Microphone System:

I"ve been blowing harp for over thirty years and this is my first experience with amplification. The minute I saw this mic in the catologe, I knew I had to try it. It arrived about a month ago and I just love playing with this mic. It doesn't interfer in any way with how you would normally play. I run it thru a Line 6 Spider 3 and it has a very good tone on the clean setting. I also get some great sounds using the effects. I highly recommend this wireless system to any and all harp players, be they hobbyist (like me) or working musicians.

      Great Little Gadget

      By Greg Harp

      from Lehighton,PA.

Comments about Hohner Hoodoo Hand Harmonica Wireless Microphone System:

Well this will be my 1st review ever but I had to comment on this wonderful litte Mic. I've been blowin these old harps for 41 years my primary has been the tried and true Green Bullit. I have used this mic (G.B.) for many years. #1 many know that this mic is very HOT and sometimes hard to control feed back that said this wireless system is in one word GGGGGGGGreat!!!! I have play out on a couple of stags with it already and love the way I can now interact with the crowds as the Guitar players have done for years. Ok as others will tell you it takes some getting used to but when you figuer this little gadget out WOW!!! You will love as I do. I highly reomment this mic to all serious harp players. You will grow to love it as I have.

Great Wireless Option for Harp Players

      By Mr3D

      from Chico, CA

Comments about Hohner Hoodoo Hand Harmonica Wireless Microphone System:

I use 3 mikes for harmonica (Golden Melody) amplfication: the venerable Shure Green Bullet, a locally produced product called the Cherub, and my latest acquisition, the Hohner Hoodoo Hand wireless mike system. Play all three through a Fender Blues Junior amp. Of these mikes, my favorite by far is the Hohner. Here's what it has going for it: 1. Loud- I can get more volume out of the Blues Junior without feedback for those gigs when the amp is not miked into a soundboard.2. Versatile- This mike can get loud while remaining very clean. This is important when I play country or any other style that calls for multiple-note chords with cupping effects. It can also sound a bit crunchy when I set the amp to "fat", or dial up the pre-amp volume for single-note playing.3. Freedom- I LOVE the ability to move around the stage without being tethered by a cord. This can't be fully appreciated until you try it. It is just a great feeling. It is also nice to have virtually zero weight in your hand (especially compared to the Shure.3. Value- For a pro-quality wireless system, this is very reasonable. Now for the downside: the transmitter that you wear on your belt requires 2 batteries, and these sometimes do not usually last through an entire performance. Unless you change them proactively after each set you can be playing your heart out and in the middle of a song the amplification just dies. I solve this problem by using rechargeable batteries and changing them out frequently. If you want a mike that delivers a really distorted electric blues sound, the Green Bullet can't be beat, and the Cherub works great for the same with much lighter weight. But if you want an excellent loud and clean sound, free of feedback and cord, that can also produce a mildly overdriven tone, get this mike system. For me the Hohner Hoodoo Hand is just about perfect.

Comments about Hohner Hoodoo Hand Harmonica Wireless Microphone System:

I got it. I loved it somewhat. But the first time I hooked it up, The off swtich on the belt unit gave a terrible static that came back through my amp. So I put it through my P.A. Same thing. On the fourth time I hooked it up absolotley no nothing. No S/N, No Inspction #.

      Hoodoo Hand

      By harpstr

      from Oklahoma

Comments about Hohner Hoodoo Hand Harmonica Wireless Microphone System:

Since so little has been said about the hoodoo hand I am writing this, my first online review. Got the item last night and ran it through its paces. Here is the comparison you are probably interested in. Through a silvertone amp, in relation to a JT30 it is very close tone wise. The Hohner product seems to distort about the same differing only in tone. The wireless seems to have a deeper more robust bass response while the Astatic has a slightly more ?tinny? sound at the top end. It takes a little practice getting a tight seal with the hoodoo ring mic clip. Thought it would be easier, but a round bullet mic actually lends itself to making an airtight seal. The standout plus for the hoodoo is the ability to use the hands for tremolo etc. Another positive is how hot the mic is. The volume is significantly louder than with the JT30. I have not been on stage with a bank of wireless mics but assuming it does not interfere, and assuming the flimsy little mic cord doesn?t break, I think I am going to love it. And oh yea?playing with no strings attached is cool. A little pricey but all and all a thumbs up.
