For the price, this is a remarkable dulcimer; the sound is excellent as is the action (height of strings above the fretboard and the amount of pressure needed to produce a clear note). The sound is exceptionally bright and clear; the construction is very solid; the tuners are good quality and makes easy adjustments when tuning the dulcimer; the size is excellent for both a young person or full-size adult; the sound chamber produces a very loud sound and the frets are accurately positioned to play the exact note in pitch; the dulcimer is well made and the cedar fretboard adds a pleasant fragrance when playing. This dulcimer is very easy to play; I would HIGHLY recommend this instrument to anyone, including those in the experienced audience. Regardless of where it was made (in China) and the complaints about using rare woods in its construction, it is one of the best dulcimers I have played on for the price.

First time dulcimer player. Ordered the apple dulcimer and thought that was a good deal. As a strictly introductory instrument it is. However, if you plan on getting more involved with playing and jamming with others the FI-220 is a great choice. The construction is good, tone is good and it stays in tune. It is comparable to dulcimers costing somewhat more and is an excellent entry/intermediate instrument for the price. Plesantly suprised
