A colorful instrument with an engraved Tiki bridge.
What could be more fun than a Tiki Ukulele? Kolohe (the mischievous rascal) has turned the world upside down with these ukuleles. The completely amazing Tiki bridge is just the start. The Kohala Tiki Soprano Ukulele with Tuner is made with all Linden wood and comes in a variety of colors with a durable satin finish. It features postion markers on both sides of the fretboard, making it perfect for both righties and lefties. Just switch the strings around and go.
The soprano size, also known as standard size, is the traditional body size of the ukulele. The soprano is perfect for players with smaller hands and its small size gives it a bright crisp tone.

Comments about Kohala Tiki Soprano Ukulele with Tuner:
This is a good intro uke for beginners or to have as a knock-around uke for hiking, picnicks, or anywhere you wouldn't want to risk a more expensive model. I have several ukes and this is the one I throw in my daypack for hiking and generally goof around with. It sometimes serves as my office uke.
Once the strings have stretched out, it holds tuning well. It even comes with good-quality Aquilla strings! That makes a huge difference on inexpensive models.
I got my whole family these ukes for Christmas and they loved them. Kids can't keep their hands off them (that can be a pro and a con...).
To get a beginner going, this is a sweet, fun, inexpensive way to do it. If your playing takes you much past the 10th fret (all the way towards the body of the uke), you're going to want a more well crafted model, as it starts to twang out a bit in the last few frets.
Some solvable gripes:
- Of the 5 I received for my family, 1 tuner didn't work and new batteries didn't fix it. Musician's Friend was great about shipping out a new uke immediately. Yay!
- The tuner buzzed in one of the ukes. I removed the tuner (super easy to do) and wrapped some tape around the body (avoiding taping over the battery slot) to dampen the sound. The buzz is now gone.
Overall, nice job, Kohala!
