Comments about Lanikai Curly Koa Series CK-TEK Tenor Ukulele with Fishman Kula Electronics:

Grabbed one on a SDOD, glad I did. This is a great sounding Uke, and the built in Fishman Aura sounds fantastic. Haven't gigged with it yet, but I expect it will work out fine. Really sweet tone, the Koa is beautiful, and the tenor size is a little easier to manage for a guitar player. Action is a bit high out of the box, but certainly playable. Nice build quality for the price.

Comments about Lanikai Curly Koa Series CK-TEK Tenor Ukulele with Fishman Kula Electronics:

Very beautiful and high quality Curly Koa wood top, back, and sides. Nice hardwood neck with rosewood fretboard. Very mellow tone and a lot of fun to play, even when amplified. For the most part, the workmanship is very good throughout and it comes with top-of-the-line strings. I'm constantly having to tune the high string, but this may be because it takes a long time for these strings to break in, so this aside, the only real problem I have with this Uke is the setup of the action; it is perfect for open chords, but it is too high as you get closer to the soundhole. This is a consistency problem during setup at the factory, and they should know better. The fretboard setup is definitely the low point, but I suppose you'd have to pay a lot more for a Uke to get "everything" right... Other than the action issue, I love this little Uke. It's a lot of fun to play around friends and family - perhaps even at non-professional gatherings - but I wouldn't be comfortable playing this for paying gigs unless you first pay someone who knows what they're doing to shave a little material off of the bridge to correct the action. For the high-low to middle price range of similar Ukelele's, I don't think you will find one significantly superior to the Lanikai CK-TEK.

Comments about Lanikai Curly Koa Series CK-TEK Tenor Ukulele with Fishman Kula Electronics:

Just what I expected, except has a crack near electric tuner. My guess is that this was a "blem" or "second" not revealed by the seller. It was purchased at a great price as 'Stupid Deal Of The Day".
Set up ok, sounds good, very good quality except for split. I am just in hopes that the split does not get worse.

Comments about Lanikai Curly Koa Series CK-TEK Tenor Ukulele with Fishman Kula Electronics:

This is a very nice Uke, my second. I have bigger hands so the size of the tenor is right for me. The strings need replacement right out of the box, the factory ones won't hold a tuning. The electronics are nice, great sound, minimal feedback. I like the tone shaping controls of the 3-band EQ, very sensitive. Nice volume overall even unplugged. Great tone for a Uke in this price range. I found only 2 rough spots in the binding, but nothing horrible. The only slight dissapointment is that the figuring on the top is not nearly as exotic or pronounced as the one pictured in the ad online. I know all wood is different, but I was hoping for a more exotic piece of wood on the top than I got. Otherwise no complaints.

Comments about Lanikai Curly Koa Series CK-TEK Tenor Ukulele with Fishman Kula Electronics:

I own several Ukulele's as well as guitars and other instruments. I'm always looking for quality when I purchase any instrument. This is the whole package for your buck. The woods tone and looks, the pre-amp, the built in tuner, and Fisher electronics, great strings and nice selection of cases to choose from. I'm not done, I will be purchasing more of Lanikai's products in the future and highly recommend them to everyone.

Comments about Lanikai Curly Koa Series CK-TEK Tenor Ukulele with Fishman Kula Electronics:

First freya into the Ukulele market but an experience acoustic guitar purchaser and I wanted to make sure I got something above beginner level. Something that can grow with me for pro gigs. This isn't it.
It's an extremely nice looking instrument with very decent tone. Overall design and look is good. When you nitpick it becomes a disaster. Now I was given a heavily discounted price but ordinarily people are spending almost half a G-note with no case and Lanakai should be embarrassed to have let this go.
5 "dings", bridge was scratched, sanding marks visible on headstock going diagonally to the grain, binding separating everywhere and the action was abysmal. It looked like a cheap store brand acoustic.

As you may have expected, Musican's Friend was on it like a tick on a hound dog. They took this back in a New York minute and now that they have the pictures I took, I hope they really do inform Lanakai customer service about this poo.

These are not "hand crafted" but I think they removed that term in the description. I was mostly disappointed. I ordered the Kremono Coco Tenor Uke as a replacement. More on that later. They didn't do much better, but I was sent a prototype. MF had no idea Kremona sent them the first batch of these. I contacted Kremona and they gave me that info, but again, that's another review.

Bottom line: the other great reviews of this could be telling the truth. If this was set up better and had no imperfections I would have kept it and probably gone on to enjoy, but seeing these problems makes you suspect that this is not isolated. This would never get through Martin, Yamaha, Cordoba or Fender - in the same price range. I strongly suspect Lanakai is simply a lower end, nice quality beginner Uke that should be priced down another 30%

Comments about Lanikai Curly Koa Series CK-TEK Tenor Ukulele with Fishman Kula Electronics:

I play guitar and piano and have been wanting a ukulele for a while now. I considered a cheaper uke for my first, but after much research I decided this was the one for me. The fact that it's a tenor is great because its slightly larger which eases in playing if transitioning from guitar, and it also has a fuller sound than the smaller types. The pickup is amazing because there is no need to mic it while performing. Also, it's beautiful and bottom line a great beginner ukulele.

Gorgeous wood. Very striking appearance as the tone of the wood changes with the angle that you look at it. The tone quality and volume of this uke are outstanding. Very well built in indonesia, surprised to say that but I am amazed at the quality of this uke for the price. Nice smooth seams, straight neck, perfect action. The electronics are very nice as well. tuner works great. If you're thinking about buying this, don't hesitate, you will not be disappointed!

Great uke. Built very well and beautiful wood. All the seams are tight and smooth and the neck is nice and straight. Action is just right for a uke. Will replace tuners however because i put grovers on everything. Very nice tone and all the electronics work great. This uke has good volume as well. Much more than my other ukes. Buy it!
