This is not an instrument meant for an experienced ukulele player. It doesn't have the BEST sound and it doesn't stay in tune like an expensive ukulele would. But, this is a great first ukulele for anyone who wants to learn. With this, you can learn your cords and notes and get used to the feel of a ukulele. It is not the best product out there, but it is a great starter.

I purchased the Kohala ukulele as a gift for a younger player to learn some basic chords and strumming patterns.  When I finally saw the gift, the instrument as received from the factory was almost playable.  It doesn't live up to the Lanikai name Had the ukulele been sent to my home instead of the child's home, I would have returned it within the 45 day grace period.  You get what you pay for!  Buy a real Lanikai!

This arrived about an hour ago, and I started tuning it (IT would also have a hard time staying in tune), I made a barre chord shape just like normal, and the neck snaps where it's connected to the body of the instrument. This is poorly made and cannot sustain a standard ukulele tuning.

Ive had this thing for a years now, and it's lasted me tossing it around and crap, so thats a plus. The sound isn't to exciting, but it really does get the job done. It does have an intonation problem, but it was overcome by tuning some notes sharp and some flat. Bottom line, if your not to picky than it will work for you.
