I used to be a music teacher, now I just play for fun. I've taken up ukulele, and I was thinking, "gee a banjolele would sound cool with my folk songs like "Rocky Top" and "I've Been Working on the Railroad" so I went on a search, and found this (on sale majorly) so I bought it. Got it today, set it up, strings take quite a while to stretch but they are aquilas. I read up on adjusting banjolele bridges. They say to set it equidistant from the nut to the 12th fret, but that didn't work for me so I moved it until I could play a note open and at 12th fret and it not be sharp or flat. I tightened the head a little, and wow it sounds so much better than it did before I read up on the setup. So, if you decide to buy this, either be ready to set it up yourself which isn't that hard, or have someone set it up for you. Strings are still settling but I think this is gonna wail!

When I opened the box for this banjolele I was very please. It is beautiful. It has a weight to it that led me to believe that it was solidly constructed. However, when I tuned it for the first time, I noticed that the G string would not tune properly. Then the string popped free with the string anchor from the tail piece bracket still attached. The feeling of euphoria from seeing this classic instrument changed to disappointment. I did not want to return it. So, I got some gorilla super glue and glued the anchor back in place. It works fine now, but I cannot recommend an instrument that breaks the first time it is tuned.

great product. open the box, set up the bridge(about 40 seconds), tune it and this baby is ready to play. You have the rest of your life to master this instrument and she will last at least that long. THANK YOU, musician's friend (again).

I got this as a gift for my daughter. At first, the bridge (where the strings attach) broke. But Musicians Friend was very quick to help me with a replacement. And we have had no problems since. It's a great sounding 'plinky' banjolele.

Comments about Lanikai LB6-S Openback Soprano Banjolele:

The folks at the care clinic loved it! When it arrived, I had to set up the bridge and adjust the head. That comes with the territory of owning a banjo. Not a problem. Read up on it if you need to. The instrument is amazingly well built and solid, the intonation is good, and wow it is loud.
I hope I didn't do two reviews. Well, if I did, it was worth it.

First class in every way. I like the aged brass metal finish. The unit holds tune well once the nylon strings settle. I slightly lowered the action with nut files. Really good value as Musician's Friends ran a special at better than half off retail.
