A magic combination of a solid spruce top and quilted ash back and sides.
Straight from the creative minds at their concept shop Lanikai are proud to introduce the Lanikai Quilt Ash Series. Lanikai has paired a special batch of quilted ash with a solid spruce top creating a series of ukuleles that has a bright lilting tone that is perfect for the stage or your recording session.
A custom wide bone nut was used for greater string spacing making these instruments easy to play. Mahogany body binding, skunk stripe and butt stripe compliment the understated natural satin finish of the LQA series. Gold plated geared tuning machines and the new Prestige Lanikai Logo add to the charm of these fine instruments.
A concert ukulele is slightly larger than a soprano with a fuller sound, perfect for beach parties or small gigs.
From the beach to the stage, take this one with you. Order today.

Comments about Lanikai LQA-C Quilt Ash Concert Ukulele:
Overall, I like the look and tonal character of this ukulele. But we are all different and all hear and see things uniquely. You only know about an instrument if you live with it and play it for a while.
This is a solid spruce top laminated quilted ash back and sides ukulele. The sound is not as bright as one might expect from a solid spruce top ukulele. For example both the Lanikai spruce/mahogany and spruce/flamed maple ukuleles are much brighter sounding. The sound is a bit "plinky" with not a lot of sustain. But this is not meant as a negative criticism as I enjoy this sound as a change up from my other ukuleles. The wide fretboard is unnecessary in my opinion. The difficulty playing a concert ukulele compared to a tenor is the distance between the frets not the spacing between the strings. The extra width of the fretboard is annoying to me and took some getting used to. But my major peeve is the horrific - yes horrific - raised, bright blue, plastic covered sticker Lanikai put on the headstock. It is both ugly and distracting. I removed it and had a custom abalone inlay made in its place and it looks a whole lot better. This feature is almost a deal killer for me. Lanikai, are you listening ?
The only reason I give the quality a "9" rating is the sticker on the headstock. Otherwise the instrument is beautifully made and set up to play nicely out of the box. The instrument is constructed very lightly and the matte finish does the spruce top and gorgeous ash woods justice. Perfectly bookmatched back and a simple ash wood rosette finely bordered with I'm not sure what material. Elegant. Understated.
The ukulele is a great value for the money with the one caveat about the sticker.
