This is a great uke for the money. The Aquila nylgut strings make this inexpensive uke ring out. I have a Rouge Soprano uke but found it to small as I play guitar. The concert size is just right. I am totally pleased with this item. The G string needs to be tuned often but I'm sure after a few days this will no longer be a problem.

I bought this for my wife who had expressed an interest in learning. I am an experienced guitar player. I was disappointed in the knotty wood materials, ragged and relatively rough cut and finish. Compared to a comparable guitar this is definitely poor construction. The sound is ok and keeps in tune better than my very old non-gear tuner uke. It is probably ok to explore whether she really wants to learn to play.

Have been learning uke on this for the last few weeks. I understand now why I've seen so many reccomendations for the LU-21C as a first uke. I am very happy with the construction, tone and volume of this lil guy.

Comments about Lanikai LU-21C Concert Ukulele:

I have been playing guitar for 23 years and uke for about 3. I have a KoAloha uke and another Lanikai uke so I know enough about what I am looking for. This uke is great for the value. I restrung mine with brown Worth strings for a different tone than the Aquilla strings. I would recommend this for any beginner. It does not cost much and it sounds nicer than my $200 zebrawood acoustic/electric uke. It also is a much better sounding than the Oscar Schmidt OU2E which is comparable in value. I use it for campfires and outdoor occasions but keep in mind the tone is not comparable to a ukulele made from Koa wood. Not even close.

Comments about Lanikai LU-21C Concert Ukulele:

I'm NOT a pro on ukulele! but decided to get one after seeing inspiring video about The Mighty Uke or somethng like that. This instrument seems well made in all the important ways. It was very reasonably priced. I think I'm glad I got the concert size; a more knowledgable friend says that it is a bit bigger. The only problem i'm having is holding onto it when I stand! but that is a fault of MY body, not the uke's! If you are looking for a good first uke, this probably will make you very happy. Now I just need to find a case....

                nice uke

Comments about Lanikai LU-21C Concert Ukulele:

Bought this uke for my grandson, am very well pleased with it. The frets are easy for his fingers to move to, and he doesn't have any trouble holding the strings down, he's only 7 but doing good.
It is a quality instrument for the money.

i've been playing acoustic guitar for about 2 years, bass for a few months, and i just got my uke yesterday and i haven't put it down. i love this thing! the sound is warm, clear, and bright. sounds just as good as any other uke. it looks so much cooler in real life. i'm extremely pleased with my choice to buy this. definitely go for it

I received my uke a few days ago and am sending it back for an upgrade. I found the sides of the frets were not beveled or smoothed enough and these frets were too scratchy to play comfortably.
