Well I just opened the box and it is stunning to see.  Tunning took a minute but it's to be expected.  Now though the sound that comes out is unreal, makes me so happy.  This is a beautiful instument with quality sound next to pro sound.  It feels good in hands and holds well.  Mainly if you want an awsome Uke, this is it.  The money you spend will feel well worth it.  I can't wait to spend the next few hours kickin' it old school with me and the band. Mahalo.

The Lanikai LU-8E Tenor Acoustic-Electric 8-String Ukulele is a cool instrument, but it takes a while to get used to. First of all, the stringing of an 8-string ukulele is weird to begin with. The G3 string sounded so un-ukulele-like that I decided to remove it completely. I also didn't like the sound of the C5 string so I moved it to where the G3 string was, and tuned it to G4. That sounds a lot better. Even with this adjustment, the C4 note is still really boomy, especially when amplified. Unfortunately, the tone controls are not enough to compensate. Even with the bass control setting turned all the way down, you will still want a -6dB notch at C4 +/- 2 semitones to keep things relatively even. A low shelf below C4 is also a good idea. That is a lot to go through, but now that I have done it, I am really happy with the sound I get, particularly at this price range.
