OVERVIEW

An affordable and well-built concert ukulele.

The Lanikai LU22CGC Concert Ukulele is one of their most popular and affordable ukes. Its sweet sound has a pedigree of choice woods and quality construction. The classic ukulele design and beautiful tonewood are improved with the attention to detail that has made Lanikai a preferred name in ukuleles.

The LU22CGC is just a bit bigger than a soprano ukulele, and smaller than a tenor. This is particularly helpful for performers with larger fingers, and the slightly larger body emits a louder and deeper tone.

The uke is solidly crafted with a mahogany wood top, back, sides and neck for well balanced tone. The rosewood bridge and fretboard add clarity to the notes, and die-cast tuners keep you in tune from song to song.

With gold hardware and a soft satin finish, the Lanikai LU22CGC ukulele will surely turn some heads. You won't believe what kind of beautiful sounds this dynamic and versatile little island is capable of.

Comments about Lanikai LU22CGC Concert Ukulele:

Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. However, when I first took it out of the box, the instrument was hardly playable. I got this as a sort of lounging around instrument, so I wasn't expecting much, but the intonation was so off that it could not be used in any fun or practical sense. The string action was set too high so any note you played went off pitch. The strings were also poor quality, way too dark sounding and would not settle into tune even after some good stretching. The instrument was also as dry as a piece of firewood.

Since I'm confident in my guitar fixing capability, I figured that sanding the bridge saddle down would fix the intonation and lower the action at the same time. Take the strings off, and carefully remove the saddle. Once out, use some fine grain sandpaper to slowly whittle it down from the bottom. It's better to be safe than sorry for this and try to err on the side of not sanding it down enough. This is a non reversible destructive procedure so be careful and use a fine ruler to determine how low you can go before the saddle won't clear the bridge slot. My saddle ended up clearing the bridge by about 3mm for a great setup.

To revitalize the body, I stuck some guitar moisturizers inside and taped over the soundhole. I also marinated the every surface in lemon oil as the instrument is entirely unfinished (which is awesome). I let this stand for 2 days in a dark closet before stringing it up with some Martin Florocarbon strings.

After all this, this uke sounds amazing. The materials are all great quality from the tuning hardware to the unfinished mahogany top, back and sides. The sound can be described as warm and soulful, especially when strummed near the neck. It also plays very easily after my action adjustment, and has great intonation.

After some work, I have a really great instrument. Perhaps you will luck out with an instrument that comes in better condition, but if not just put some work into it. Giving this 4 stars despite the shoddy factory state because it really sounds excellent. Now I'm considering investing more into it by installing a pickup of some sort.

Comments about Lanikai LU22CGC Concert Ukulele:

Although not Koa, plays well, sounds decent. Not sure about how strong it is or if it will have a long life but its a fun one to travel around with without worrying about busting up a real expensive one.

Sale priced, so I saved ... looks very nice, a little twangy but I guess that is expected in a ukulele, got a set of new nylon clear strings also on sale. Have ordered from MF for years and always pleased with purchases
Excited to learn to play my ukulele

This is my first ukulele so I don't know alot about them. I do know that it looks good and sounds very good. This is a better starter uke that you will find anywhere. This uke was made for the Guitar Center and I think its probably a LU-21 C with gold tuners..Check with the Guitar Center..
