This is absolutley the best mandolin I have evr played! The tone is great and the finish is gorgeous. It also stays in tune quite well even during major weather changes. Thanks MK for another great mandolin!
I just bought this mandolin the other day and I love it! The finish is great and it is easy to keep clean. It also hardly ever goes out of tune, even when the weather changes. The case is also very good and the strap works great. You WILL NOT find a better mandolin!!!!!
I purchased this mandolin after visiting a Michael Kelly product exhibit at Merlefest (an annual Americana music festival hosted by the legendary "Doc" Watson). I played guitar for years and still own one of them, but wanted to learn to play mandolin. My music is not limited to "bluegrass" or "americana", but it is fun music to play and listen to, plus is has "soul". This is a very good "first instrument". The action is good, the hardware is good. The instrument stays in tune. Quality solid top lends itself to a good sound. The vibration is good, for this price instrument. It sound much better than some of the competition's instruments, that cost hundreds more. The case is functional and so is the strap, however I recommend you purchase a more pointed pick. The rounded one that comes in the package is for a more advanced player. I also recommend arranging for some lessons from a quality instructor, to ensure a proper beginning. Learn to play on this quality instrument and if you become serious, then spend the thousands for a Gibson.Good luck and enjoy the music.
