Comments about Moog Etherwave Theremin Standard:
I bought this for my Son. He has wanted one for a long time. I first purchased the "other" theremin because the Moog was on backorder and I wanted him to have it for Christmas. it was ok but didnt do what I expected. I got the Moog when it became available and WOW.....the difference is amazing. we still dont really have the hang of it yet but it is definitely better than the other one...spend a little more and get this one, its well worth it
Comments about Moog Etherwave Theremin Standard:
i love my theremin, its great for song intros or intricate solos
it could be painted a more fitting colour
epic price
Comments about Moog Etherwave Theremin Standard:
I think the Theremin is an instrument that isn't totally made for everyone. I bought mine mainly to create those old cheesy 50's sci fi sounds. It's a extremely tough instrument to play and I don't recommend it for musicians. If you looking to put this in your band or songs or something it probably won't fit. If your looking to create sounds it can be very useful. It's a fun thing to attempt to play and it's a nice conversation piece. Respect it because electronic music wouldn't be around if it wasn't for the Theremin.
Comments about Moog Etherwave Theremin Standard:
I've been fascinated by the therimin for several years, more so since I began listening to the music of Jean Michel Jarre, who occasionally uses a therimin in his music. I bought the Moog Etherwave last month and have been playing with it constantly since then. The product was in excellent condition and takes up far less space than I'd thought it would. The two antennas which are used to control it are easy to remove for travel and just as easy to reattach. I will say this much, the therimin definitely is not an instrument to take up lightly. It's a hard instrument to play. Because one plays by moving one's hands around the antennas, it can be easy to mess up what you're playing. Move even a finger at the wrong time and you can mess it up. On the other hand, however, you can use that to your advantage if you only need a minor pitch change. Fortunately, though it's not as blind friendly as I might have liked (yes, I happen to be blind), the DVD that's included with the Etherwave is very interesting to listen to, as it features Lydia Kavina and Clara Rockmore, the two greatest therimin virtuosi after Leon Therimin himself. I never knew Greesleeves could soud so good coming from an instrument most associated with sci-fi soundtracks. So while it is a difficult instrument to play let alone master, I whole heartedly recommend it to anyone interested in learning a new instrument.
