This is a phenomenal lap steel for the price. It features nice tonewoods, solid construction, a great design, and best of all, a Kent Armstrong pickup.Kent Armstrong is a master pickup designer and maker, and this single coil is nice and twangy, while still being warm and fat.I would say, if you can afford it, step up to the Morrell Pro Lap steel, which has better woods and build, and even better Kent Armstrong mini-humbucker.But at this price, this Morrell is a terrific buy, and a great beginner or back-up instrument. It sounds fantastic and plays great right out of the box. It's a bit more nicely made than the Rogue, and the Armstrong pickup is much better than the Rogue's, (but the Rogue can certainly be upgradedfor better tone.)For it's price though, it's a great bargain. It looks great, sounds great and is fun to play.
This is a great entry level instrument. If you can't enjoy this hooked up to a nice Roland amp, yo won't enjoy lap steel. It's nothing fancy, but I have really enjoyed it. I moved from a Fender slide dobro to this. Try it for a new musical experience!
I just got this the other day and I love it. I have wanted to play lap steel for a while, and when I got it, I immediately warmed up to it. It has a great tone and hasn't caused me problems so far. It stays in tune all the time, and when it goes out of tune, its not a major difference. I am extremely satisfied with this lap steel
This is a great instrument for beginners who want to play lap steel. I personaly bought it for its tuning abilities. It plays very well but the pickup has a hum to it. Besides that, this is a great buy that stays in tune very well.
