      not a satisfied customer

Comments about Oscar Schmidt OU13 Soprano Ukulele:

My excitement soon turned to disappointment after opening my new OU-13 from its box, sure it looked real nice just like the picture but when playing it, it felt heavy and thick, like ther was too much reinforcement, the sound projection was lacking, the action was too high and the intonation was off, which inhibited the tone, and the sustain, so it sounded like a toy, I would rather have a plain looking uke with the proper setup, than a beautiful looking uke that sounds like a toy, the geard tuners werent put solidly on the headstock...I could go on about my personal philosophy about a manufacturer who doesnt care about their entry level customers, thinking were stupid and dont know the difference between quality and crap, come on set yourself apart from the other laminated wood ukuleles, give a proper intoduction to your ukes, prove that you have a commitment to quality, dont write about it.

      Play it everyday

Comments about Oscar Schmidt OU13 Soprano Ukulele:

This uke is quite beautiful, much better than expected. After living with it for about 6 month and playing it everyday, I?d say it is a good value. Sounds good, stays in tune and plays well. There are some quality issues that keep it from being as good as it looks: 1) The fret edges are unfinished and can be sharp. I filed them down myself to improve playability. 2) The neck nut is a little off center, moving string centers down. Somewhat annoying, but playable. 3) The strings supplied were very poor quality, you?ll need to replace them right away. 4) Neck to body seam on the back side has some wood putty filler. Not noticeable unless you are looking. Other items that are a feature of the design that might take a little getting used to are: 1) The body depth is almost 5 inches, 50% thicker than most ukes, very guitar like. 2) The tuners are also guitar like and heavy compared to the size of the uke, making it very top heavy. A good buy, but you?ll have to rework it a little to make it a good value.

You don't know what you're missing!

Comments about Oscar Schmidt OU13 Soprano Ukulele:

I got into the uke after falling in love with George Harrison's music again...Macca and Joe Brown played beautiful tributes @ the Concert for George...It is such a sweet instrument and totally hurt by its association with Tiny Tim. THis is my second uke by OS...this one is a little "softer" in sound but just as strong as any uke out there in looks and playability! It goes almost everywhere with me...guitarists need to give this a try!
