Comments about Recording King The Osborne Scout RK-SCOUT Banjo:
This is a very good banjo and certainly holds its own against higher priced instruments. The build quality is very good and the sound is really outstanding. The only real areas of concern for me are: the 1st, 2nd, 3rd frets are dresssed a bit short. This makes pull offs somewhat difficult. This problem is on every Osborne banjo I have seen. The nut could be recut, or the three frets replaced. I changed to number 10 guage strings and my banjo played great. (This problem is not a deal breaker) the other problem for me was the color-too red on the neck and the finish is too thick-I know that this is personal taste-so this is not a deal breaker either. I played this against more expensive American brands that sold for $3500-$4500 and only a Huber and one Ome actually sounded noticeably better. Could be setup, etc. The point is the for half the price you can have a very nice professional sounding banjo that you can be proud to own. I recommend it to any player particularly to those who play for a hobby.
