No Bad..

By William Mcclure

from Va Beach

Comments about Regal Black Lightning Resonator Guitar:

After the fix, I am really learning to like it alot!
I recently got the Resonator bug while watching old Flatt and Scruggs shows on Netflix. I had a Morrel lapsteel and was learning to play Dobro with it. It never sounded quite right. I bought this used from MF and used a sale coupon got a great deal. The instrument is solid and looks pretty good. My only complaint was a buzz coming from some where in the resonator. I took it apart and found that the mounting screws were screwed into the top without any reinforcment and the screws had stipped the wood. This allowed the resonnator to buzz. I used Thick CA glue to harden the wood and reinstalled the screws, problem solved.I like the RD-52 in gets a nice full sound for the price.
See above
I got a great deal on this one!

Superb Instrument!

By Pierre-YOtv3

from Modesto, CA.

Comments about Regal Black Lightning Resonator Guitar:

I'm intermediate level Dobroist (advanced guitar finger-picker) I needed a Dobro for solo as much as ensemble. If you are beginner to advanced - you cannot miss with this Regal RD-52, this intrument appears to be the lowest price at which I can find the quarterman cone for the resonator, which makes this very loud (lots of cut) and full sounding. Just remember it is square-neck for lap playing, not like guitar style. I play mostly jazz/rock, but this instrument got me deep into blues!

Comments about Regal Black Lightning Resonator Guitar:

Nice looking dobro, but the factory set-up issomewhat lacking. I've had two and they bothhave come with dented resonators. With this problem of course they don't sound right. Looksto me like they are tighting the bridge screwto much.

By Dobrojoe

from hagerstown, MD

Comments about Regal Black Lightning Resonator Guitar:

I have been playing bluegrass music for 25yrs.Been playing Dobro (resophonic guitar) for 20 of those years. I have played and owned many an instrument. From vintage Dobro's to Paul Beards whom I know personaly.Folks for the small amount of money this is priced at.It is well worth it.Yes its not a $3000 Beard, but I challenge someone to find the quality and sound this Regal provides for this litte money.Ain't gonna happen.

Regal Black Lightning

By Kevin-kc-T1

from South Florida

Comments about Regal Black Lightning Resonator Guitar:

I had hoped the cover plate and tailpiece would be brass (like some better Regals). They are steel. There were flaws in the finish (finger prints and cloudy areas under the clear coat), and dents in the sound screen mesh. Both materials and finish seem to be inconsistent with the advertising claims from Regal (Saga) about the quality of this instrument. Though they are advertised as shop set-up the sound of the instrument I tried was raspy and course. It didn't have the clean tones of a well set-up Dobro. The guitar looked OK except for the finish flaws. I found the green Regal lable on the headstock a bit garrish. The instrument has potential. If it is intended to be played on stage as per Regal's advertising they should check the quality and tone more carefully. The two areas they promised excellence in were appearance and tone. Those qualities just were not there.

Lightning, Yes!

By GUITARDLJ-_k51S

from Indiana

Comments about Regal Black Lightning Resonator Guitar:

This guitar is a great buy. It has the upgrade cone already installed. I got it and wasn't expecting a lot but was surprised at the sound and quality you get. It's not the best guitar you can buy, but I would have to say its the best you can get in its proce range. I have 2 other Regals and I find their sound and quality better than the other low price resonators out there.

Comments about Regal Black Lightning Resonator Guitar:

This guitar looked and played perfect right out of the box. The finish and setup is flawless. Only the screens were a little warped but hey, no big deal.
