Comments about Regal RD-30VS Square Neck Resonator Guitar:
For about a year, I've been playing a Regal RC-2 metal-body round neck (standard nut) using a Dunlop glass slide, open D tuning, laid across my lap; decided it was time to give the square-neck a try. I bought this Regal square-neck resonator 'gently used' and a new Dunlop tonebar from Musicians Friend for a very reasonable price. It arrived within about 3 days of placing the order, and its overall appearance is better described as 'like new.' For the money, the RD-30VS is a fine instrument that doesn't require a bank loan, and it responds well to the Dunlop tonebar. The resonator develops plenty of sound that is balanced across the strings, and fret placement is consistent with respect to intonation and what I see in tonebar position as the instrument is played. The RD-30VS is comfortable across the lap; it's not a heavy instrument. I'm primarily a rhythmic guitar player (mostly bluegrass & folk), but this instrument may push me to work more on melodic runs, fills, etc. The RD-30VS is a great way to expand beyond acoustic guitar at a very reasonable price. Musicians Friend did a great job of packing it safely, and got it delivered very quickly. I don't always end up at Musicians Friend when I'm looking for gear, but I always check to see what they're up to; their prices are almost always competitive, and their service is exceptional. I plan to continue dealing with them for years to come---
