Mahogany top, back, and sides for the traditional ukulele look and tonal characteristics but with the exclusive "Dual Port System."
The Boulder Creek EUC-5 Concert Acoustic-Electric Ukulele features all of the beauty and sound of the UC-5NS (our sku# H76285), but adds a built-in Chromatic tuner, a pickup system, and a battery powered preamp with Volume, Bass, and Treble controls. This uke sounds great, whether it's plugged into an amplifier or played acoustic-only.
The exclusive "Dual Port System" projects the sound to both the audience and the player. Moving the front sound port away from the center of the soundboard helps to increase volume, tone, and sustain on all Boulder Creek ukuleles. Die cast tuning machines and perfect fret leveling make them stay in tune and play easier than ukes costing much more.

Comments about Riptide EUC-5 Concert Acoustic-Electric Ukulele:
Pretty good sounding ukulali that should last for years without having to baby due to the laminated sound board. I have had to many expensive guitars crack because I don,t store them in the case all the time. If there in the case you dont play them!
Got this from wife for Christmas. Sounds as good as any of the other popular brands in price range. Sounds pretty good for a laminated sound board. It may have to do with the bracing system and sound hole placement that Boulder creek uses. One reviewer said the sound hole placement was a gimmick. I totaly disagree .
Not many reviews out their on any of the riptide models, but to me it seems well made.Read one negative review on another riptide model but after seeing and playing the euc-5s I would have to disagree with that reviewer. This Ukulele sounds and looks well made. Should not have any problems with cracking due to the laminated sound board. Solid sound boards don't always sound better. The top mounted sound holes ,wood tuners look and sound pretty cool.
I would have given it a higher rating if they included a gig bag
