When set up properly this thing will give some great sound. Fun to play around with, and comforting knowing I could take it anywhere or do anything with it and not have to worry about som big investment getting destroyed or stolen. Overall, if you're just looking to have one around to toy with and not going on tour or anything, this is the one to buy.

Falling Apart

Features:

the extras the banjo comes with are great to help get started.

Quality:

the quality has been just a trainwreck and a nightmare. after just a few short playing sessions i came back to find the 5th string tuning peg came out. after several attempts at getting it glued and rooted back in place and the string NOT staying in tune at all, i find that also the tailpiece is bent out of shape and needs replaced. extremely frustrating!

Value:

while the price is well under all other options (though still quite an investment for a poor musician in bad economic times) if i want to even begin really learning i'll have to pay to have the parts replaced and properly set up, not to mention the time, effort, and money i've put into getting the tunung peg back into place.

Overall:

Rogue's Banjo Starter Pack:

be wary and ready for major dissapoinment should you take the risk.
it's not too bad on the wallet for all you get with the package, but it has completely fallen apart before i could even spend any real time on it.

Well the first thing to say is that it came extremely fast. The order went in on Halloween and I got it on the 4th of November and the box for it was huge! I put the bridge on it and tuned it all via youtube and after reading some reviews on the banjo i took it in to "The Starving Musician" in Santa Clara. I got it tuned up, got the bride properly adjusted and bought new strings and a strap. There isn't really mush more you can do because its a great instrument and so far I love it and play everyday with help from my friend who is teaching me finger picking. The banjo itself sounds loud and amazing and is quite light and i haven't really gotten good at it so i can't really compare the quality between other banjo's but sure it may not LOOK as good as the other ones but its damn good for the price you pay. I love my new banjo and don't intend on buying a new one anytime soon. I highly recommend it.

Great Starter Banjo!

Ok so before i got this little beauty I also was slightly frighten by some of the reviews about it. I got this starter banjo took it right out of the box and all I had to do was put the bridge on. This is not a difficult task if you have any experience putting a bridge on other instruments and know how to position it properly. I will say that the bridge could have been slightly better because I did have some string buzz but that was not a hard fix. For being a beginner banjo player this works great, it sounds great, and it really looks great. With a new bridge head and strings it will sound even better. The gig bag is great that comes with it, it's a little big, but works good and the dvd and book are good to get you learning some great tunes. I definitely recommend this for beginners who also might not have a big dollar amount to spend.

I'm a "beginning banjo picker"...  I was somewhat skeptical after reading some of these reviews, but my banjo arrived yesterday, which was very quick!  I had it out of the box, fully assembled, and tuned up w/in about 20 minutes.  I don't know what some of these bad reviews are about, but I highly recommend this banjo to someone just starting out.  What you get is a very good banjo to learn on for your money!!!
