    Not for amateurs

Comments about Rogue RM100F F-style Mandolin:

the best thing about this mando is that from at least a few feet away it looks like an "F" mando should look. aside from looks, and in yer playing hands, it's quite a different matter. the one i purchased here was on sale and required a full level and crown to eliminate fret buzzing at specific frets, a recutting of the nut (though i replaced it with a bone nut), new and better tuners (i had them on hand, but the supplied tuners were just ok), new and far better strings, and a complete setup for action and intonation (the truss rod nut was stiff to adjust, but at least it did move). i cut off the "florida extension" as that's there for looks and is useless to 99% of all mando players - this allows picking closer to the fretboard end for a deeper tone. i also installed a JJB prestige-220 transducer pickup set. NOW it's a player that exhibits as decent a mando tone as it's all laminated wood body allows, but is perfect for a plugged in electrified mando gig or recording session. this mando is ONLY recommended if you have the ability to make extensive mods to it. if not, forget it and immediately go buy a The Loar LM-310F.

Comments about Rogue RM100F F-style Mandolin:

Used for fun and maybe a jam or two.
Needed tuning out of the box, I am a guitar player attempted to tune and E string popped right away
Brought it to guitar center for new strings and was advised the bridge was way off and not tuneable. They attempted to adjust the bridge and it broke. They needed to put on a new bridge.
Musicians friends offered me some money back for my added expense. Sounds ok now but at lowere frets it buzz's .
I would not recommend this mandolin for the price

    Meh...

Comments about Rogue RM100F F-style Mandolin:

I had been jonesing for a mandolin... I own a Rogue bass and really found it to be a bargain for what I paid for it. I assumed the same might be true for the mandolin... It's 'ok'... that's about all I can say about it... it's ok...

Musician Friend's service and all has been great. I can't fault them at all...

    I may return it...

    Meh...

This is not a high end instrument. It is a nice sounding, nice playing instrument at a very reasonable price.

Sounds pretty good after I put on new set of strings. Holds tune good, not bad for the price.
