This is one beautiful instrument. Very well made. And it comes in a sturdy plastic case along with a polishing cloth. The first day I just sat there and looked at it without picking it up. When I did pick it up, I was surprised just how heavy it was.
I am just learning to play the harmonica, so I can't get real technical about this review. But compared to the Diatonic harmonicas that I've been playing, it simply blows them away.
The finish is flawless, The slide is super smooth. The notes are precise with no sticking of the reeds.
I've been playing Hohner Proharp diatonics for the last few years, and I wanted to try my hand at chromatics. This is a whole new ballgame...
I am very glad I purchased this instrument. It is not cheap by no means, but neither is a Gibson. I bought mine in the key of G, and I plan on buying a few more in different keys after I learn how to play it.
The slide is super smooth.
The shape is very comfortable. It fits your hand like a glove.
I like the round holes on the mouthpiece, compared to the square ones found on other harmonicas. It gives you much more control over the notes your playing.
Flawless finish. More chrome than a '57 Bel Air. When you pull this out to play it, people will notice.

I've developed a Love Hate relationship with these Harmonica's. They are wonderfully made and designed. They are beautiful little instruments with a big sound . . . but they are Fragile. Very Fragile! The fact is, Historically speaking, not one Chromatix Harp has lasted an entire year without losing a reed. In fact maybe 8 months. At first I thought, (and was told by suzuki) it was me, but after several years and changing my style and babying these harps . . . I don't think its me any longer. So what I do is make sure I have backups for each key. Then when one go's south, I grab the backup and send the sick Harp to the shop. That makes Suzuki happy I'm sure. But its hard to justify the expense. All said tho, I haven't found another harp that I would replace them with, and I've tried them all. So long story short, Love the Sound, Hate the Fragility. You have to decide for yourself, is it worth the cost and headache. Below ask would you recommend to a friend. The answer is yes - But an Experienced Friend/Player and only after reading this.

Comments about Suzuki SCX Chromatix Series Harmonica:

I really don't know why someone is complaining about the reeds going south on these harps. I've got one I've been playing for almost 10 years, and I've never replaced the reeds, or even adjust the reeds, and I even bend notes (yes, you can bend notes on one of these) occasionally. I haven't even had to replace windsavers. They've got a real rich sound, and, like all Suzuki harmonicas, are *much* better built than Hohners. The only problem I've had is that I occasionally have to adjust the slide.

Comments about Suzuki SCX Chromatix Series Harmonica:

The tone quality is warm and full. The action of the slide is smooth and has yet to stick. I have had the instrument for a couple of months and it is nicely broken in. The top octave is a little stubborn yet but it is loosening up quite well. The tone blends very well with the violin and viola better than my previous harmonica. My wife is a professional violinist, retired and we can now play well together, producing a fine sound with our music. Thank you Suzuki.

Comments about Suzuki SCX Chromatix Series Harmonica:

The valves stick closed almost immediately because of condensation. I live in a desert with virtually no humidity but the temperature and humidity from a mouth are enough to silence this beautiful chromatic.

I have a Honer Chromatic III that I've had for 57 years and it doesn't have this problem. I tried to dry my mouth out with mouth wash before playing and still had problems.

Exchanged the item for a new one and received another defective item. And since I was out of the country at the time, I missed the 45-day return period. Do not buy this item.

Comments about Suzuki SCX Chromatix Series Harmonica:

I have played Hohner chromatic harps for years then the holiday special pricing of these Suzuki harps prompted me to try one in the key of C. I was so I pressed with the ergonomic design of the holes, the response of the reeds and slide I replaced all my harps with this model (C, D, F & G). Time will tell how well they hold up but the reputation of Suzuki leaves me confident these will go the distance.

I love the idea of the chromatic harmonica - a fully chromatic 3-octave instrument that fits in the palm of your hand. I like low G instruments since they have the same basic range as a violin.

I have several low G chromatics. My three Hohners are certainly good, and the design of the Hohner CX-12 is a real meistershtuck. But this Suzuki is the best I've played. All the reeds are dead on in playability and pitch; the sound is warm, very responsive and balanced.

Like the ergonomic design of the mouth piece of this harp that makes lip blocking very easy. Slightly heavier than a Hohner equivalent. Excellent value for the price.
