OVERVIEW

A professional mandolin with beautiful appointments and hardshell case.

The Loar's nitrocellulose-finished LM-700 F-model mandolin is a tribute to classic design techniques. From the hand-carved, hand graduated AAA spruce top and AAA flamed maple back and sides to the abalone/mother-of-pearl headstock inlay, these mandolins were built to represent Golden Age craftsmanship updated for the modern era.

Carved and assembled in the Loar Hand Carved Design Workshop, then hand-rubbed with nitrocellulose lacquer for clean warm tone and powerful projection, this mandolin offers sounds that could only be previously found in instruments that were decades-old.

The hand-carved Loar mandolin is assembled with a one-piece maple neck and bound ebony fretboard, ebony bridge and vintage-style Gotoh tuners. The bone nut and ebony bridge allow for the singing sustain and sharp chop that professional players look for in a high-quality mandolin. Includes hardshell case.

Comments about The Loar LM-700 F-Model Mandolin:

A fantastic mandolin. Not just for the price. This mandolin will out bark a banjo. It has a distinct Lloyd Loar sound and incredible playability. Perfect bluegrass tone, and not to mention a beautiful finish. Get it, you will not regret it. Is better than a Gibson, trust me. I own both!

Comments about The Loar LM-700 F-Model Mandolin:

I tradede in my older LM600 for this new LOAR 700. The sound is great; very mature, not like an unbroken-in instrument. Plays well and fast. BUT, the tailpiece was installed off center and is crooked, and the wooden tail pin fell out within an hour, luckily, I had the instrument in hand, not hanging on the strap. Some of the fret ends were high and sharp. For over a grand, I expected more.

Comments about The Loar LM-700 F-Model Mandolin:

This is a wonderful mandolin. It has a great feel and great playability. The only flaw is that Loar seems to have poor QC on the finish. The two that I ordered had very minor finish flaws. I had read other reviews about others experiencing this very same problem. The tone and playability, however, override the very minor finish flaws. Great sounding and playing mando!

Comments about The Loar LM-700 F-Model Mandolin:

Some older bad reviews about build quality don't seem to apply to the instrument I just received. Maybe QC has improved. This mando is very playable much better than my Kentucky 254. A deeper fuller tone and easier to finger clear chords. I don't really observe any imperfections. Also a beauty to look at. I'm very happy.
