I own a few tin whistles in different finish and materials.
For this price, you get a great little whistle, a weee bit touchy on the high octave, pretty good sound, and pretty well in tune. I got 2 as sometimes I play around and play 2 at once on the three top holes.
A great, no, fantastic value for the money, for you for a friends, your kids, no excuse to not get a couple at this price! Just add them to your order, you will not regret it.
Just go see Andrea Corr play the whistle and you will see what such a simple little instrument can produce.
      It is a treat! no?
Easy to play, just blow harder to get the next octave, and have a blast!
That lilltle whistle puts out some volume, you will be surprised!

I can't imagine paying the MSRP is on this guy. I think it's worth about the price listed. It sounds good when I can get it to make the right note, but it's incredibly pitchy and squeaks a lot, especially when you play in the higher octave. All in all, it's good for the price, but you don't really get more than what you pay for.

Comments about Waltons Little Black Tin Whistle in D:

I ordered 20 of these to sell at my booth at a medieval faire. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this little black gem performs. I played it all day and people were impressed with the sweet sound it produced. For the money, you can't go wrong with this little black D. I actually prefer the sound of the little black D over the original Walton D. It has a smaller bore, so the sound isn't as shrill in the upper octaves. As I was playing at the faire, a sweet woman came by and started playing with me on her very expensive Burke. We blended nicely, and she commented on how well the Walton little black D sounded.
This whistle is a good one for beginners who don't want to invest a lot of money, or for throwing in your backpack. I say for the price, buy 2 or more because inevitably someone will want one and you can make their day by gifting or selling them one.
Keep in mind, however, that practice is the key. An experienced whistle player can make any whistle sound good. There are many tutorials on YouTube that are helpful!
There are certainly better crafted, more expensive whistles out there, but this one suits me just fine and I don't have to worry about it getting lost or damaged.

Great whistle. I'm a beginner and I've loved this whistle since I got it. Nice sound and fairly easy to pick up and go. The all black look is really striking too.

Comments about Waltons Little Black Tin Whistle in D:

These work great for Classical Conversations program. They are in the required key of D. I bought two from Musicians Friend three years ago for my older children. They have held up very well. Very durable. I'm not buying one for my youngest child and one for myself. These are bit cheaper than buying from CC. I highly recommend this product and have told many people about this option over the last three years.

Comments about Waltons Little Black Tin Whistle in D:

It is light, durable, and cheap. I would consider it for a gift to a child or a friend just getting interested in playing the whistle. No saliva leaks like with a Sweetone and nicer to hold because there is no seam for the thumbs to rest on. A few judicious scrapes with a sharp knife blade fixed most of the upper register tone problems. About as good as an Oak, but cheaper by nearly half. Interesting little whistle.

Comments about Waltons Little Black Tin Whistle in D:

As stated in several other reviews it's quite pitchy, but for the price it's OK. Mine was very poorly packaged and came with the end smashed, but was fairly easily straightend (it is made of very soft material). I have a couple of other whistles that are much better made at not much higher price, so I'd have a hard time recommending this one.

This whistle is even lighter in weight than
most other whistles and care should be taken
                    to stow away safely(protective case).
Great for a beginner like myself.

Comments about Waltons Little Black Tin Whistle in D:

I think as with most tin whistles that they'll squeak here and there because of breath and because of fingering. Otherwise, it's a really good whistle for the price. Very iightweight, but because of that nature you have to be careful and not sit on it or have it get dented by anything heavy.

Also, because of it being made of aluminum, it does have a softer tone than a brass whistle.
