Comments about Washburn M1S Acoustic Mandolin:

I bought this mandolin because of the price and the brand. I knew that I would have to perform a basic setup of placing, adjusting the bridge, and tuning. You can bring it to a music shop, or do it yourself. After I got it set up and began playing, I fell in love with the tone and quality, but the strings dug into my fingers horribly, so I replaced them with a set of D'Addario J78 Phosphor strings, and now it plays so much faster, easier, and with a better sound. This mandolin sounds just about as good as my $550 Washburn M3SW. It is definitely worth it. This was my first mandolin and I still play it on a regular basis. I have owned it for over half a year and have only had to tune it once.

Whether you are strumming with your fingers or using a *light* gauge pick, you can be sure it will have a loud sound projection if wanted.
