My rating is a comparison of F style mandolins generally priced under 1K (intermediate festival quality instruements). The M6 SW is a very attractive looking mandolin, the finish is very glossy but is thick, typical of a polyeurathane finish. The thick finish definetly is a negative and that is why I rated the mandolin a four and not a five. The woods are very nice and carved. The tiger maple back and sides are real quality and are beautifull, the spruce top is definitely AAA. The mandolin sound was tight and tiney when first purchased but the sound is definitely playing in and is becoming rich and balanced. Although the bass is not as woody as the higher end, price range 2K up, mandolins it does have a decent quality and will get fuller woodier over the years. The features on this mandolin, the cast tail piece, the eboney bridge and fretboard are definite quality. I did have problems with the open tuners. I replaced them with GOTO and have had no problems since. I recommend this mandolin for someone that wants an attractive intermediate quality instruement. For the hobbyist, this is definitely a lifetime music companion.

I have just purchased a new Jerhto Burns Mandolin and am disapointed because it is very defficult to change the strings. You need four hands and it is very defficultto do. The sound Quality is for from being good and not easy to play. I own a JB made in the USA - not in China - and is the best I have ever played with a tremendous sound. Not this one made in China. By the way I play in a professional Bluegrass band. I have been playing sence I was 12 years old

I just received my Jethro Burns three days ago, and I was amazed at the mandolin I got for the price I payed. Great tone perfect action, and a high quality case. I haven't seen better flamed maple on the back of any mandolin, maybe I got lucky, but it is gorgeous and has the sound to match. I recommend changing the strings on arrival, it took about an hour to set up correctly. For anyone looking for a high quality mando for less than two grand I highly recommend this model.

I own the Jethro Burns mandolin (Washburn)and have been playing in Jams using this mandolin for five years. I have owned both Gibson and Martin and will put the ( Washburn JB ) in the saome class with both of them. Others want to purchase this mandolin but it is not for sale. The tone of the instrument is wha tgets their attention.

I own this Washburn Mandolin and have for five years and it does a tremendous job. The comments I get are. "This mandolin has a great sound how much will you take for it. Other musicians especially Blue Grass guys. This response is most frequent. Mine is not for sale.
