To a non-guitar-player, picks may seem like an insignificant detail - but guitarists know better. The right pick can make all the difference when you hit the stage, with different materials affecting the way the pick feels as well as how the strings sound when they're played. Clayton is continually raising the bar on just what a pick can and should be. In the past, before modern materials were widely available, many guitar picks were made of tortoiseshell. Those old-style picks had an articulating effect on the strings' sound that made them well-suited for acoustic guitars, and until now, picks made of modern materials haven't quite been able to match it. Clayton aims to solve that with the NuTone pick. No Hawksbill sea turtles were harmed in the making of this pick, but you'll be impressed by how well it captures the organic sound of authentic tortoiseshell.
Clayton does have its fair share of exotics, though, if you'd like to experiment with the tones produced by different pick materials. Take the natural horn picks, for example, which deliver bright sounds with a fast surface that's great for 32nd and 64th picking. Or, give the coconut shell pick a try. This pick has a smooth, polished playing side opposite a roughened gripping side for a good balance of control and agility.
If you're a movie fan, you've got to check out Clayton's Pick of Destiny. Made to be a replica of the actual prop from the film, there's no better tribute to Tenacious D. There's also a functional version of the Pick of Destiny, which comes in a pack of 6 and is made of the same Delrin material as Clayton's Duraplex picks. Maybe horror movies are your thing? If that's the case, you'll also want to take a look at the Friday the 13th Jason Voorhees hockey mask picks, which even glow in the dark.
Clayton has a ton of experience making great guitar picks, and you won't find a better selection than theirs. Whatever material you like best and whether you like your picks plain or decorated, Clayton is sure to have something that's right up your alley.
