Pros

  • Easy To Use

Cons

  • 4 picks had rough edges, white adhesive on edges

Best Uses

  • Picks produce a pleasant, mellow string sound

Comments about D'Andrea Pro Plec Guitar Picks Small Pointed Teardrop - One Dozen:

I used 600 grit sandpaper to remove the white residue/adhesive on the edge, and then used a felt buffing pad to smooth out the edges of the defective picks. I needed these picks and so I chose to repair them myself, but next time I will return the entire purchase for a refund.

I ordered a dozen of these picks after reading the 5-star reviews here about them, and after using them for less than a week ordered 6 dozen more - a lifetime supply just in case D'Andrea ever stops making them. They are exactly what the other 5-star reviews said about them.

Comments about D'Andrea Pro Plec Guitar Picks Small Pointed Teardrop - One Dozen:

I have liked these picks since a jazz guitarist working on a Carnival Cruise liner gave me one of his. (He had purchased his picks online in large quantities). I kept that pick for years, fearing to lose it, because these picks are practically unavailable in regular music stores. I find them great for lead guitar, because of the tone they produce and the smooth release in contact with the strings. For rhythm, I prefer thin picks because of their flexibility. I finally ordered my picks online and I got a supply for a lifetime. A must for jazz players!

Comments about D'Andrea Pro Plec Guitar Picks Small Pointed Teardrop - One Dozen:

Overall pick is good quality that I expect from Pro Plec but the pitfalls of ordering online is that you can't see the item first. I have very small hands and these picks were too small to fit in my hands. Would only recommend for small children.

              Best Picks for Jazz

Comments about D'Andrea Pro Plec Guitar Picks Small Pointed Teardrop - One Dozen:

I've been playing jazz for over 15 years. The D'Andrea Pro Plec is really mellow with an extra smooth release. They're similar in tone to the Red Dunlop Jazz IIIs, but way more mellow with a more vintage tone. Think 50s Herb Ellis. Picks really do make a difference in your tone, and these are top-notch.

              THE pick for jazz guitar

Comments about D'Andrea Pro Plec Guitar Picks Small Pointed Teardrop - One Dozen:

This applies to bop/hard bop jazz guitar if you're looking for the classic Jimmy Raney/Jim Hall/whomever tone - I've been through hundreds of picks (literally - I have a box filled with them), and this one is THE sound I've been looking to get. I'm not saying it's for you, but if you're not 100% satisfied with your tone, try this one.
