Been using these for years. They are always consistently good.I used to use the Fender 346 Extra heavy, but Fender stopped making the extra heavies. Looking for a replacement, I found these and never went back. When I bought the Fender picks, they were inconsistent from batch to batch, so I'd have to buy a gross to find a dozen or so that had good clean geometry and smooth points.Because these D"Andrea products are so consistent, That is never a problem. I'f I buy a dozen, I can use them all.1.5 MM is plenty stiff enough.Yes they are deeply embossed and that does help with gripping them securely. I also drill a hole in the center which really helps them stay in place once you find your sweet spot. For a while, I labored under the false impression that pointier picks were "more accurate" or somehow "faster" than regular picks. Boy was that stupid. My guitar teacher showed me how mandolin players do some of the fanciest speed picking, alternate picking ad tremolo picking on the planet. Then he showed me the type of rounded-tip picks those guys use... like these. The difference is immediately noticeable. You can actually hear more fundamental tone. Changing the angle really gives a difference in tones.Picks are so low-profit, most big manufacturers don't care about making them well. They just use them as an advertising platform. And because picks are cheap, I didn't think much about quality until I found these. ALL the D'Andrea picks are consistent, produce good tones and they are not crazy-expensive like Wegan picks or hand made stone picks. You should at least try some of these with your next order just to see why so many pros use them. You might find out what I did.

Poor Tone

This pick is one of the worst picks I've ever used. To compare this pick to a "genuine" tortoise shell indicates they have never played with a genuine tortoise shell pick.

Comments about D'Andrea Pro Plec Rounded Triangle Picks - One Dozen:

I tested out a couple dozen types of picks on mandolin, including Wegen, Dunlop Primetone, Blue Chip, etc. I settled on these picks, factoring in price in addition to sound and comfort. The triangle shape makes a big difference to me - I think it feels less like it's falling out of my hand, which in turn makes my had looser and makes it easier to adjust the pick angle. I also prefer the darker tone of the Pro Plec. It'll definitely be my primary pick on the mandolin.

I play the mountain dulcimer, too, and was pleasantly surprised how the pick sounds on there, too. Not your typical dulcimer pick, but I'll definitely add it to the mix.

I use this pick on both my HD28 steel and my ACS SA slim nylon. They hold a bevel well and the embossed logo is just enough, but not too much to grip. Switched from the delrins I had been using for over ten years.

Comments about D'Andrea Pro Plec Rounded Triangle Picks - One Dozen:

D'Andrea picks make the 'Dawg' pick if I remember correctly. I used the 'Dawg' for several years but found that a more triangular was in order. On my quest to find my 'go to' mando pick, I decided to purchase these to try as well as having less expensive back up picks on hand. I like the feel of the pick but like the 'Dawg' not fond of the 'dark' tone it produces. Great quality and great price and perhaps the right pick for certain folks. I'm still happy to have them as part of my growing collection of plectrums!

I bought these on the recommendation of mandolin player Mike Marshall. Didn't realize the HUGE difference a pick could make. I love the dark and beefy sound they produce. I got them originally for my mandolin that I'm learning to play, but have started using them on my Taylor acoustic. Really warms up the sound of a Taylor.

I'd been looking for a comfortable and solid feeling pick for when I play bass. This is it. It feels like if I don't lose these then I'll be able to keep them forever.

Like most pickers, I've tried just about every mass produced and high end boutique pick on the market for acoustic guitar flatpicking and mandolin. This pick is nearly perfect with respect to stiffness, shape, feel and edge profile. It's a quick and accurate pick, and gives a well-balanced dry tone without excessive clicky attack. It's also at a perfect price point so you don't have to stress about losing them like boutique picks. Give them a try!
