I have both the 6 and 12 string AJ60SC. I traded a Ep Les Paul Standard for the 12 and loved it so much I began to search for the 6 string. They are both great, I have played many other guitars and in this price range they can not be beat. The action is great, the sound is wonderful, the builtin tuner is a great plus. I serve a small church and I barely need my amp when playing. My wife says that she can hear me from out side my house when I am playing unpluged. I love the jumbo body. Remeber that this is not a Gibson SJ200 but then again you are not paying Gibson prices. Buy this you will love it.
I worked in a music store and studio for years. I have played literally thousands of guitars. If you are looking for a grand concert or jumbo I think that you will be pleasantly surprised with this model from Alvarez. I have owned this guitar for for about 7 years and I have really enjoyed playing it. While the electronics are not top of the line and the sound is a little thin, the action and play of my guitar are wonderful. If I had the money right now I would buy a second one!
I just bought this guitar not expecting alot for the money but I was shocked. The battery was dead in it at the guitar store so I never got to hear it plugged in before I bought it. When I got it home and installed a new battery then hooked it into my amp. This thing sounded like heaven. The electronics are outstanding and the looks are brilliant. This is a maple back and sides guitar so along with the jumbo body the sound is cystal clear and a touch of brightness that is not over the top. I am an active musician and have been so for 20 years. I also own a JF65-12 guild (made in USA) this alvarez is a perfect companion at any gig.
I bought this guitar and its awsome. I played many guitars costing way more over double the price of this one and it was clearly the best. Not only because of the price but just over all sound , action, looks ,feel ect . This guitar is not only beautiful but sound so good. The highs are perfect the lows are awsome. The action can not be beat. I was planning on redoing the action as soon as I got it but little did I know Alvarez had everything set perfect. Action is insane low the neck is satin finish so you just glide from note to note with such ease. The size of the guitar is very comfortable and I would almost compare it to my Dreadnought. Its just slightly bigger in size but way more sound. I love this guitar. I was really considering a yamaha but Alvarez is hands down better (at least on acoustic stuff anyways.
I havent been playing that long but I have played lots of guitars in this price range. Of all the guitars I have played I like the playability of this guitar along with its deep tone. The looks just blow me away aswell. Overall i think this is a great guitar
The playability is great with a nice fretboard, sounds great for the money and would recommend it. The fretboard action is a little to low and is affected by humidity. After owning it for three years I had a higher sadle installed. With a little higher action the tone is much better and is one of my favorite guitars.
Here's the skinny, this guitar has amazing tone...unplugged, pure raw acoustic power. Slap a pair of phosphor bronze elixirs on it and your good to go, studio perfect. One of the better jumbo acoustics out there. The electronics are not worth more than 25 dollars. I have a parkwood that I would pick over this any day. The action is amazing but again the electronics suck. My fishman prefix system, if only i could rip it out of another parkwood or Gibson and throw it in this.If you are buying for live performance, keep walking...get a parkwood or gibson songwriter with a fishman, not the classic four, but a prefix or aura.oh lastly, buy a good humidifier for this bad boy too..
I bought this guitar from musician's friend not really knowing what I was getting but it was in my price range and had great reviews. I fell in love with it as soon as I got it out of the box. It was everything the reviews said, beautiful with a great sound (I'm always getting comments from people about how good it looks and sounds). It may not play as smooth as a Taylor or Martin but in my opinion holds its own in sound quality. I bought it about a year and a half ago and it won't be replaced until it falls apart. Definitely worth it's price tag.
This is a great guitar. I play on the praise team at church and its looks brings lots of comments, but the biggest thing about it is the sound! I also own a 35 year old Gibson SJ that I love, but the Alvarez is the one that goes to the platform with me. I bought it to replace the Gibson, since I wasn't about to drill into that guitar to amplify it, but I really do enjoy the Alvarez' sound.
I bought this guitar 2 years ago and could not be happier. I named her Blondie and she is always catching people's attention. I am a worship leader and also an acoustic rocker. The sound doesn't stop and the action is not beaten by any other guitar. I have played $3500 guitars and this always has me coming back more happy with it than them.
