A mid-priced nylon-string with a solid cedar top, mahogany body and B-BAND electronics.
The Alvarez Artist Series AC615CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar is an excellent value. The construction is just right to allow this model to sing, and deliver a player experience that’s excellent for a mid price instrument. This Artist Series classical guitar is beautifully made using a traditional Spanish heel construction. The thoughtful bracing helps deliver sustain, balance and volume. This acoustic-electric version of the AC65 is fitted with the wonderful SYS650 blend system EQ, designed by the good friends at B-BAND.
The AC615CE has a solid cedar top and mahogany back and sides for a tone that's warm and dynamic. The neck features rosewood binding and a smooth rosewood fingerboard. A real bone nut and saddle help with intonation and sustain while inlays of real wood mosaic and mother-of-pearl add style and elegance.
SYS650 dual pickup
The Alvarez SYS650 was designed by B-BAND and is a dual pickup system incorporating one under saddle pickup and a transducer pickup placed under the soundboard. Either pickup can be selected or one can blend between the two to fine tune the response for lead, finger-picking or rhythm work. The system also has a fully chromatic, precision tuner with backlit LCD screen, 3-bands of rotary EQ, and a notch control that can be used to attenuate feedback or to shape the sound.

Ordered a Restock expecting and willing to accept cosmetic flaws. Found a water mark in the finish on the headstock. No problem! I played it through and acoustic amp. Nice tone, reasonable action. The dual-source pickup--under-saddle transducer (UST) plus soundboard transducer (SBT)--and B-Band electronics were very versatile. They allow shifting emphasis from nearly all UST to nearly all SBT. With the focus all the way to the SBT merely rubbing a shirt sleeve on top is transmitted to the amp.
Unfortunately, the particular guitar I received had enough issues that I decided to return it. NOTE that the Restocks MAY include instruments that are stamped by the factory 'Near Perfect'. That might have been acceptable too, but for two other playability issues. At certain pitches, there was a noticeable buzz under the bridge, inside, like something was loose. Also, the fingerboard had a high spot over the body section that led to buzzing when playing in the middle of the fingerboard. Looked to me like badly-executed repair. MFI is not so quick with the return credit process as they are with shipping, but at least they paid for the return shipping.
MFI's definition of 'Restock' does not state explicitly that the instruments may be factory-seconds, so that surprised me. The definition does state that instruments may have been returned to mfg for reasons including repairs, so Buyer Beware!
MORAL: if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
