I have owned this guitar for over 3 yrs. The more I play it the more I love it. It is a sweet and gentle guitar. Its not good at putting out a big volume, but decent. I have noticed on some of the Alvarez that the low E is off on the higher frits. I use a capo a lot so I just retune the E for that fret. It stays in tune well and the workmanship was great., couldnt find a single defect. The action is set low with medium strings. If you want to switch to lighter string you may have to make an adjustment on the guitar or you MAY get some buzzing. Depends on how they set the action for your specific guitar- NO there not all set the same. The wood patern can be very differnt from guitar to guitar. So if you are pattern picky you need to pick one up at your local music store. Peace
I'm going to echo everyone has said about this guitar. AMAZING! I bought this guitar used 6 months ago and now the guitar is 5 years old and the tone is smoother and more defined than some of the new ones I have played recenly. Just wait for this one to get older.
First off, the picture does not do this guitar justice. It is so hard to stop playing and once you do, it's hard to stop staring at the Dao wood. I was amazed how good the abalone Alvarez logo looked on the headstock. The rosewood fretboard has a fabulous ebony look due to it's dark color. The fretwork is second to none and this neck is a joy to play. It sounds great out of the box and compares to guitars must more expensive. The only negative which is totally understandable for an instrument in this price range is the plastic nut, saddle, and bridge pins are plastic. I upgraded the plastic saddle and bridge pins to tusq and definition and harmonics are now much improved in my opinion. This guitar is a great value and rises above the competition.
this is a great buy. i wanted a step up from my applause that i had been playing. i didnt play this guitar at all before i ordered it and was pleasantly surprised when i got it in the mail. This guitar looks very high end and plays fantastic. the neck is pretty fast and has a great feel. The sound is comparable to some higher end guitars that i have played. Overall, i have had this guitar for a little over a year and i have absolutely no complaints with it. If this were stolen or damaged beyond repair, i would replace it with the same thing in a heartbeat. Do not hesitate to try this one out.
to be honest, i have had very little expierence with guitars. but i couldn't ask for anything more from this one. love it, absolutely gorgeous, and it sounds fantastic. A++ in my book.
Looks amazing, sounds amazing, and plays amazing. This guitar is just simply AMAZING. Plays just as well, if not better, than the expensive acoustics and cost far less. One of my best purchases ever.
I've had this guitar for a few years and I love it. Looks great and sounds just as good. Elegant and beautiful but not flashy. Plays nice and very little fret buzz. Nice, big warm sound. Really likes to be fingerpicked. About the only guitars I've tried that compare favorably with Alvarez are Martins, but the cost a lot more, and there is something about the Alvarez sound that Martin doesn't give me. Gave it a nine in quality because, while everything else is very good quality materials and workmanship, they used plastic for the saddle and nut. I changed them to bone and that gave a significant improvement to what was and already great sounding guitar. Get this if you want an acoustic you'll be really happy with at a price that won't girlfriend/wife really unhappy!
The action is very quick, the tonal qualities are very rich. At this price you can't go wrong. The DOA wood is extremely different and very appealing visually. I especially recommend it for finger style players. I am very happy with the AD60K.
This is my 4th guitar made by Alvarez. And by far NOT the most expensive I have ever purchased. I bought this one through a music store in my hometown. I also ordered mine with the Electric pick ups in it. This baby is one of the sweetest sounding guitars I have played in years! I compared it to a blue ridge 70 there in the store as well and this thing sounds just as clear and just as nice in tone. Hands down Alvarex is the best choice over the higher priced guitars. They have the same quality and you cant beat the price - you will not be dissapointed in this guitar! BUY THIS ONE!!
