An affordable guitar with a hand-selected solid spruce top, rosewood back and sides, and wide-ranging tone.

This Alvarez Artist Series AD70 Dreadnought Guitar is a powerful dreadnought, suitable for all styles of playing. It's a member of the Artist Series '70s, which are stunning guitars made from hand-selected A grade Sitka with rosewood backs and sides. The high-gloss finish really brings out the beauty and grain in the rosewood and like all Artist Series they have advanced scalloped bracing and all-natural components. Just like Artist ’60 models, the ‘70s have incredible tone and the rosewood helps to accentuate the highs and lows just a tad more.

The term “solid top” of course refers to the soundboard of an acoustic guitar being made of solid wood, rather than being laminated. However, just because the top is solid, it does not necessarily mean the sound automatically benefits from this feature. The tone of the instrument only improves significantly when the whole guitar is built correctly to really release the energy a solid soundboard can generate. The Artist Series is built to do exactly this.

Each model is designed to get the best out if its components, and for them to work together to produce a tone and player experience, rarely found in affordable instruments.

The sound is warm, open and powerful, and both the treble and bass registers are clearly present and balanced in relation to each other. These guitars feel right and are exciting to play and responsive.

The solid ‘A’ grade Sitka spruce tops are hand-selected from quartersawn wood. This ensures consistent quality, and its no secret better guitars are made from better wood. These tops not only look great but they are stiff and strong and finely grained. This allows them to be cut just that tiny bit thinner, which lets them dance a little more and produce a lot more vibration, and ultimately a richer tone.

New Artist Series guitars look stunning and all of their components are made of natural materials such as mother of pearl and abalone inlays, real bone saddles and nuts and rosewood appointments.

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AD70 Dreadnought Guitar:

After being without a guitar for 2 years I started to fell the itch to get back into it. While I loved my old guitar that I no longer have, it was a cheaper brand & this time I wanted a better quality instrument. I did a bunch of looking & settled on Alvarez, compared the different models of the Artist series & choose the AD70. I was worried about having it shipped to my home but it showed up in its guitar box which was inside of a larger box, neither of which had no damage. I am extremely happy with this guitar. Beautiful finish, feels great, sounds even better. Everything you hear or read about this one is true. Only thing that wasn't to my liking is the action comes to high. Easy fix to lower to my liking. Feels great to be strumming again. Thanks Musician's Friend & Alvarez! To all of you looking at this one & can' t decide.....just buy it already, you'll be glad ya did.

I dont know if it was because it was a restock or just the guitar itself but I had to adjust the the neck alot to stop buzzing.

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AD70 Dreadnought Guitar:

I love this guitar. It looks and feels great and the sound is deep and rich. I play only in DADGAD (rock, blues, jazz and Brazilian - all finger style with a thumb pick). I also own a Martin 000-28, a Martin 00-28VS, and a Recording King ROS-06. This guitar compares very favorably to the Martins, especially considering the cost and the sound is much deeper and richer than the Recording King. My only negative comment is that the nut is a bit narrow for finger style, but I knew that before I ordered it. I bought this sight unseen and I'm really glad I did.
