Alvarez is one of the under appreciated guitar brands out there. Great guitars at great prices.
I purchased the AD70S about two months ago and really enjoy this guitar. It has a low set up and is extremely easy to play. At first it was a little "tight" and seemed to lack volume, but as I have played it seems to be getting better everyday. I play with all types of other guitars at a jam session once a week and have gotten positive comments from others who play martin, gretch, takamine, gibson, taylor, collings etc. and this Alvarez holds it own. I highly recommend this guitar and I know you can't beat it for the price! For your own benefit you need to try this guitar before you buy.
I knew there were better guitars out there than epiphones, so bought the ad70s and its the most amazing guitar ive ever played. Excellent sound, feel, looks, and playability. This guitar plays and sounds better than every epiphone and most martins I've played by far AND BETTER value and craftsmanship. EVEN IF YOU CAN AFFORD A MORE EXPENSIVE GUITAR, ALVAREZ IS THE WAY TO GO.
Just picked guitar back up after several years. This guitar blew me away right out of the box. Great setup, wonderful, mellow tone from the rosewood. Great low, very playable action. I wanted a guitar that I could play for years and grow into. I know I found it in this beauty.
I have been playing a Martin D15 for the past 7 years, I loaned it to my brother and it got damaged, he then gave it back, go figure, thanks Bro. It was cracked on the top side, so I took it to the local repair guy and had it fixed, he did a great job but had to add some cleats to the inside to stabalize the crack, I got it back and it did not soun the same, muted comes to mind, so I sold it and went guitar shopping, I played many guitars, Taylor, Martin, Breedlove, etc. Taylor sounds great but overpriced Martin well the new stuff is not as it used to be unless you want to plop down some serious cash for a high end model, so with limited funds I picked up this Alvarez AD60S, it sounded great so I bought it and went home, sat on the couch and started to play, imediatly I noticed a buzz, so I started checking, turns out the saddle was loose, bad news, I called the store explained and the owner said bring it back, I returned to find out they did not have another in the store, so the guy said pick another guitar, so I found the same guitar only in rosewood sides and back, AD70S, played it and it sounded even better than the other one, of course it was more money, so I thought what the heck, Ill take it, after the traditional paperwork the owner sent me packing with the upgraded model and did not charge me the additional cost, so I got home and started to play again, this time No Buzz, fit and finish are top notch, tone is great, volume well lets just say if you play banjo against my new Alvarez, prepair to be silenced. I have owned many expensive guitars, and this one ranks as one of the best and it did not cost a fortune. Thanks Alvarez for taking care of the working man, this guitar is a pleasure to play, action was a little high for my taste but I will have that changed soon and I'm sure I will like it even better. Thanks again for quality craftsmanship at a affordable price, you guys Rock..
When I first received the guitar, I was a little dissapointed. The action was very low which gave the guitar terrible fret buzz. After a quick adjustment, this thing was amazing. It has the typical Alvarez tone which matches most Taylors or Martins I have played. The pearl inlay looks beautiful and the indian rosewood shines. The best part about the guitar is the unfinished neck which allows for smooth transitions. This is honestly one of my best purchases!!!!
I got this guitar 2 days ago and am just amazed on everything about this. The sound is like an expensive Martin or Taylor, and the neck glides like a strat or tele. All of those guitars are expensive, but this is a kick a** guitar for a fraction of the price.
This is a great deal. If you are like me and dont gig much (and even if you do) and want a great sounding guitar for the sake of the deprived wallet, this is the guitar for you. Solid spruce with indian rosewood, is just beautiful. If this were any other brand that we as American look to for the name, it would cost about nine hundred bucks. Sure its got laminated sides and back but who cares, this guitar will sing. I am installing an undersaddle piezo on mine and i'll be ready to plug in. Honestly its very well made and very nice to look at. You can see the Alvarez team knows what they are doing.
The sound and playability of this guitar is stunning. I compared it to many similarly priced instruments from Takamine, Epiphone, Fender, Dean, etc. I walked into the store expecting to walk out with an Epihone Hummingbird. When I played an open chord on this baby it just sang. There is a little ?lightweight? feel to the instrument, and some corners seem to be cut in quality around the edges. But for the money, this guitar can?t be beat. I love it.
