The Alvarez FD60S is an acoustic-electric guitar with a thin cutaway dreadnought body, a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides. All this plus the traditionally high quality of the Alvarez brand and all the innovative features of the Alvarez Fusion Series guitars.
Standard Fusion Series features
For the live performer, whether that performance is in front a crowd of five or 5,000, Alvarez Fusion Series guitars are the perfect choice. The thin body style found on all Fusion series guitars provides balanced tone while being extremely comfortable so you can play all night. They are responsive to your lightest touches and loudest strums, and the Alvarez System 600T MK II EQ amplifies it all with faithfulness and accuracy. The choice wood used for construction makes each Alvarez guitar inherently musical with clear, articulate sound and amazing acoustic tone. These Fusion guitars all feature a rosewood fretboard, gold die-cast tuners, a twelfth fret diagonal fretboard inlay, abalone soundhole rosette, and full ivoroid binding on the body, neck, and headstock.
The Alvarez System 600T MK II preamp and EQ adds flexibility and functionality to your sound. It allows you to fine tune the gain and response of the EQ sliders for ultimate personal-taste tone tailoring. The sophisticated notch filter gives lock-down feedback control without killing the basic components of your sound while the built-in tuner keeps you on pitch. i've had this guitar for a year now and I'm continually impressed with it's tone and volume. this guitar plays with similar tonal qualities as much more expensive guitars. i think it far outplays the martin "x" series and is of similar quality to the martin d-15 line, just much different. i've played it over a PA system and was shocked with the clarity and responsiveness that this guitar kept. it's the greatest non-solid wood guitar i've played and all of my guitar friends that have played it have been very impressed. alvarez really has something going on with this. i play a lot of styles from light finger picking to heavy strumming and this guitar really performs, but seems to side a little better with fingerpicking. my only gripe is (i have the amb) that it's kinda strange looking. i've been back and forth as to whether i love the way it looks or really hate it. lately i've been on the love it side, because the flaming is so beautiful, but it is definitely unusual. i'm very glad i bought it and would recommend it as a great moderate grade guitar. also is very good for playing acoustic lead because the mids and treble are stronger than the bass response.

This is a review for a FD60AMB. It has a beautiful amber finish, has a 2 piece book matched quilted maple top, and is made in China. The tone and playability are good although there is some fret buzz in various places. The overall quality is good but I have one big problem developing. It appears as though there was not enough top bracing built into the 2 piece top. They probably used the same top bracing as they do for the solid spruce top which is not adequate. The top on my guitar is warping in front of and in back of the bridge. The corners of the bridge are starting to pull up as a result. I've gone to lighter strings to hopefully arrest the warpage but only time will tell. I can't get a refund at this point since the guitar is just over 45 days old and it only started warping recently. The Alvarez case made for this guitar doesn't close well and the glue is coming loose on the top of the case. Again another quality control problem. I bought this guitar based on the Alvarez reputation for quality but clearly these Chinese made guitars aren't up to the standards that Alvarez has maintained over the years.

A friend bought it for me. I love to play it, and perform with it often. The features are great.
Have had this guitar for a month now and it is great looking and sounds unreal for the price. You can not go wrong with this guitar. I have in Amber and was surprised how sweet it looks and sounds. Great value..a must buy.
I bought the FD60S back in May and have patted myself on the back ever since. This has become the main 6 string acoustic in my arsenal. It plays beautifully, sounds great both plugged and unplugged and it is a visually stunning instrument(I own the Amber one). The pictures on the website don't do it justice. My only concern is the built in tuner. It gets you in the ballpark, but my Boss TU60 is much more accurate. Buy this guitar. You won't regret it!
I picked this guitar up at the music store a couple of days ago without much thinking about it. Strummed a few licks of Neil Youngs "Heart of Gold" and my mouth fell open! Wow, do these ever have a full, rich, sound for the price. Even one of the store workers came over and asked which guitar i played that on! He said he hadn't played one of these yet, but it sounded unreal! I gotta have one now even though another guitar is the last thing i need! Just play one and see for yourself..........you'll be amazed. BTW, they are gorgeous as well!
This guitar is great. An affordable guitar that is worth buying along with a wonderful tone with it. Its not bad for what you pay with a built in tuner on the side.
This was my first acoustic guitar and I don't think I'll ever need another one. this guitar is amazing. the sound is so clean and warm and it looks amazing on stage. I've had friends offer to trade me their taylors and martins for this and I payed half of what they payed for their guitars. You will not regret getting this guitar.
You will not go wrong with this guitar. I've been playing for a little over a year and I bought this guitar not wanting to pay that much for it but I really don't regret spending the money on this guitar. It's got tons of features and the tuner works great! BUY IT!~
im gonna keep it short this guitar sounds incredible plugged in. especially when tuned half step down and drop d. insanely worth its price buy it!
My wife gave me this guitar(the amber colored one) for my 50th birthday. I had been ogling it for a year and had played one at a nearby dealership. The action is nice and low, the neck similar to an electric (nice for me because I don't have the longest of fingers) and the tone is really nice and warm. The onboard tuner is a useful addition. I haven't amped it yet so I cannot comment on that (I'm more of an acoustic guy anyway), but I'm sure it will sound great. As for cosmetics--it is BEAUTIFUL! I own an Alvarez Dove(also beautiful!) I have had and played since 1977 so I know the quality of Alvarez well. I played Fenders, Martins and Ovations at the same dealership and I liked the Alvarez better than most of them overall(and for the price differential you cannot lose). I am sure that I will be playing this fine little number for many years to come. Give one a try before you go out and spend an arm and a leg on something else and I bet you'll agree with me.
The Alvarez FD60 over-all is a nice guitar. The action on mine was a little high so I lowered it. After I did that it played great. I checked out the sell price versus the list price and it was true. I could have paid alot more money for this same guitar if I hadn't come to this site. The pictures don't do justice. The amber model is much prettier than it appears. I own a Alvarez full bodied DY46 and this FD60 sounds almost as good unpluged. My wife says she can't tell the difference. The advantage of this guitar is the versitility of going unpluged or amped. Both sound great. I ran it on a Fender Acoustasonic Junior and it sounded wonderful.
