OVERVIEW

All-solid tonewoods and traditional construction for the serious student.

Nothing can really match a guitar made from all-solid wood. The deflection of the notes is quicker, the quality of the note is better and the sound of your guitar will improve as it ages.

Balance across the strings is important to the professional artist and Masterworks achieves this while offering the dynamic range and volume needed to help optimize the relationship between the player and the instrument. Beautifully voiced, professional guitars made from all-solid, seasoned tone wood. Includes hardshell case.

Comments about Alvarez Masterworks MCA70 Classical Acoustic Guitar:

I've owned several Yamaha CG or G lower end classicals and this beats those hands down. Fit and finish are great this is a beautiful guitar with rich sound, warmth and punch. Its my first good classical and I'm very happy with it so far. The case is a nice canvas with stitched leather trim hard shell. The finish on the guitar isn't perfect it has 3 questionable blotches but still very nice at this price. There was a slight buzz in the guitar that I traced to a loose screw on one of the machine heads, simple tightening and no more buzz.

Comments about Alvarez Masterworks MCA70 Classical Acoustic Guitar:

Got this as Stupid Deal of the Hour. I had been looking for a nylon string for a while. I'm in love! This thing is SO fun to play. I don't really intend to play classical pieces on this (maybe someday!) - I just use it for writing songs/riffs and playing Elliott Smith covers. It's so easy to finger pick - the strings are far apart, so I'm not tripping over myself (I'm a bass player by trade, btw) and the action is tres smooth. it just feels very natural and comfortable. I also noticed the lower strings are very resonant, which makes counterpoint satisfying, as the bass voice is easily heard.

I tuned this to D standard. It sounds great. Surprisingly warm. I didn't find it too loud, but my Mom disagreed. Must be louder if you are facing the guitar than if you are playing it. Which is good, because you can't plug it in. I was worried about that, as I want to play this live, but I will just mic it, whatever. It sounds crisp and clear, not boomy. Haven't recorded anything yet.

It is a beautiful instrument. Perfect shape for me, and that sitka spruce is real nice in person. I made a point of showing it off to my friends when I got it. Real gold, real bone, real ebony, real Indian rosewood! You might be paying a little extra for cosmetic flair, but hey, it might be worth it. It's a work of art, after all. I think the bone nut and bridge make a difference, because it stays in tune pretty well.

When I got mine, I noticed some frets could use filing, and the bone bridge piece is not perfectly flush with the assembly (you can feel it with your finger, but you can't see it from a few feet away). It does not effect how the thing plays or sounds. Made me frown when i was inspecting the guitar upon arrival, but it doesn't bother me at all now. Maybe if I had paid full price I would be more sour.

I was also considering a laminate Gianini with a cut-away and preamp, but I made the right choice. This is a far superior guitar. Real wood & solid construction are worth the money. XO

Comments about Alvarez Masterworks MCA70 Classical Acoustic Guitar:

At Alvarez guitars and other internet sites they are offering a different case. MF just mention a hardshell case with no specs. (I have received an Alvarez FC4). The case that the other sites are offering is a better choice than the one I received. I will recommend MF to add more details or a picture of their case so there are not surprises or mixed feelings when the guitar arrived. I am not taking this case anywhere. Is the ugliest one I have ever seen. Even my wife was in shock when she saw it. And the latches keep falling apart since day one. But the guitar is so good I am not sending it back because they won't take the case only. The guitar volume and sound quality is surprisingly good. Construction shows careful attention to details. The case is the only reason I am not giving it 5 stars.

Comments about Alvarez Masterworks MCA70 Classical Acoustic Guitar:

Great guitar, really good deal on open box. I had no idea how much fun and easier it was playing with a classical guitar. all though the case is nice definitely not the same attention to detail as the guitar. If it came without the case it still would have been a good deal.
