I just got this guitar yesterday and it's freaking sweet. The tonal range is amazing, the looks are stunning (the picture dosn't do the guitar justice), the 600 Tmk II electronics are second to none. This guitar has it all. If you can afford it, buy it. You won't regret it.
My friend introduced me to Alvarez by letting me play his Yairi guitar. It was the best sounding guitar I had ever heard. I found this guitar and it sounds as good as his guitar and sounded better than all the other ones in the store. The secret is definitely in the Cedar top!
Solid cedar top with solid mahogany back and sides with maple binding. Super tone, a sound that stand out. I have a couple of Taylors, a Gibson, another Alvarez, a Washburn, a Yamaha, etc and I have trouble hearing them when I pick with my brother-in-law that plays a Martin (and overdrives it). The MD60C cuts through and I can hear it fine. I highly recommend the guitar.
After 4-5 years of learning to play on a used Alvarez RD10 I decided it was time to upgrade to a quality guitar that I could play for the rest of my life... on any occasion -- I'm glad to say that I have found it in the MD60c. Unplugged it sounds as good/better than any other guitar I've ever played (including Taylors & Martins) plug it in and that sounds is reproduced perfectly. If I have my way, my children will be fighting each other over this guitar when I die.
I bought this guitar about a month ago. It's beautiful. The tone is very full, the electronics are fantastic and versatile. The cedar top has a better color than the picture shows and the grain on the mahogany is stunning. I have added Alvarez's soundhole pickup. A great value, don't be fooled into thinking this is a beginner guitar, for poor people like myself it is a luxury.
Have you ever owned a guitar when you walked by you had to look it and after looking at it you had to play it? Even if only for a minute? This is that guitar! I've been playing for about 12 years. Everytime I bought a guitar it was maybe 200-300 bucks. I decided it was time I invested in a high end instrument. I couldn't be more pleased. The ceder top is beautiful. And the tone is full and rich but bright all at the same time. I tried takamine, taylor, even a few martin guitars that were around the same price but, when I laid my fingers across it's ultra thin smooth neck and strummed a chord I knew this was the one!
I just bought this guitar and I played it for the first time on stage the same day. It has beautiful tones and to be honest it has a nicer sound than the other more expensive Alvarez's that they had in the store. I have to say I just love it so far.
