Beautifully voiced, professional guitars made from all-solid, seasoned tonewood.

All solid wood really does make a difference and Akvarez made sure their Masterworks guitars get the best out their solid wood construction. They are very open sounding, powerful instruments with rounded notes and plenty of bass.

All models are made from hand selected,AA solid Sitka spruce or Red Cedar tops, and solid, cured mahogany or rosewood backs and sides. Each component is made of natural material including real bone saddles and nuts, maple and rosewood bindings and purflings, ebony bridge pins and green abalone inlays.

Masterworks feature a one-piece mahogany neck with a 50/50 finish, Grover tuners and 12 Fret abalone inlay.

The bracing system for Masterworks guitars is forward-shifted with scalloped, hand-finished X braces that allow these guitars to project incredibly well. There’s lots of sustain and response and no matter if strummed or picked, the separation and balance across the strings is easily audible.

Masterworks is one of the most impressive and affordable all solid guitar lines available, so now as many players as possible can enjoy the benefits of an all solid wood construction. The MD70 Dreadnought delivers a stunning performance and suits any type of music or playing style. The solid rosewood body helps generate and dynamic, full tonal spectrum with great trebles and round bass.

My Alvarez MD 70

Comments about Alvarez Masterworks Series MD70 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Great guitar overall, very sweet sounding, and the playability is out of this world, I really can't stress this enough. The neck is so comfortable, the nut size, spacing and action are all spot on. Alvarez sets up there guitars at the Factory, which will save you 50-100 bucks from your luthier! The styling and looks are great IMO, it was very nice abalone and mother of pearl rosette, on the 12th fret and abalone on the headstock. I am pleased everytime I look at it. Very nice cedar top and rosewood back and sides, nice grain, no imperfections to speak of, great wood combination. The fit and finish is top notch and the tone is very sweet and even. An overally great value for your money, no question about it. I really enjoy playing this model and would no doubt recommmend it 100% and I would buy Alvarez again. My other guitar is a Blueridge BR-140 and I prefer the MD-70 over it for a number of reasons.

Comments about Alvarez Masterworks Series MD70 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

It's a wonder I even picked up this guitar in the first place, at first I wasn't too keen on the natural satin color, but then I played it... I was shocked. It plays so nice that the color immediately grew on me and I was hooked, the strings just pop when you play em, huge tone, pretty much sweet all around. My first acoustic was a 26 year old Alvarez given to me (which is immaculate by the way) and this one's quality definitely matches up. Probably the best acoustic I've played for under a grand, and it's way under a grand. Get an Alvarez, you'll love it.

Very smart guitar.

Comments about Alvarez Masterworks Series MD70 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This a great guitar for the money. Very cleanly built. The action could be a little better past the 7th or 8th fret. A little saddle work will fix that. Overall, a very nice looking guitar. The slim neck is awsome. Very easy to play for the shorter finger players.

It's a winner! I own one.

Comments about Alvarez Masterworks Series MD70 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I have gotten hooked on Rosewood guitars. I have a rosewood (back and sides) Martin and Larrivee. There is just something about the deep bass tone of the wood (and the smell!). I wanted something different this time. The solid cedar top does it on this instrument. If you like a crystal clear, folk sound, buy this guitar. You will not be disappointed. It comes with a self adhesive pick guard, but I do not use picks, so I did not want the pick guard installed. I bought a Yairi in 1981 (gave it to my son) but I do not remember the "hand made" Yairi sounding as good as this fine guitar.

You get what you pay for

Comments about Alvarez Masterworks Series MD70 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Although this guitar looks nice and plays nice it is not in the league of the other manufacturers (Martin ,Taylor, Gibson, or even Yairi). I guess for some people that doesn't make a difference because of the price but this guitar was just missing that distinct tonal difference that is found in other brands.
