There is a reason that this guitar has been getting 5 stars across the board. I have had my MD90 for 10+ years now and it just keeps getting better and better. You won't find a better guitar for the money. I can't see how another would be much better honestly. The action and feel of this thing is amazing. I wouldn't take the time to write this review if I wasn't extremely happy with this guitar. Buy it.
- Was this a gift?:
I was gifted with this guitar recently. Wanted a Yairi but wow. I played it for a day then visited the local stores and compared it to Gibsons and Martins. Spent about two hours doing so. Yes, the Gibson had a tad more bottom and slightly more even mids but and it's a big but there is no way there was 1200 dollars difference. The more I play it the more I appreciate it. Maybe I'm missing something but I could have two of these (one for backup) and still have 500 in my pocket as in enough for a great acoustic amp. Oh, and it looks like a martin to boot. Buy it.
I walked into my favorite guitar store with looking for an acoustic guitar. I had heard alvarez made great instruments, so I tried a few of their new axes out, and was nonplussed. Then I walked over to the used sections, and picked up a guitar with no name on the headstock, began playing, and fell in love with the clear tone and thin neck. The guitar was an alvarez MD90 that had had its headstock stripped and refinished.Almost a year later, I still haven't looked back. The MD90 is my main axe, and I really couldn't ask for much more without also dropping a lot of money. For the price of the MD90, especially if you can find it used like I did, you won't be able to find a much better guitar.
Pretty much played everything from yamaha, gibson,to taylor and ovation. In my opinion when it comes to tone action and value this have topped all others. Sit down and play it for a few minutes and you too will understand the instant attraction.
I've had this guitar for only six months and am still in a break in, getting used to period. This is as pleasant sounding and playing as it gets. The Alvarez MD-90 is quality from top to bottom. Warm sounding, simplistic beauty.
