What can I say. Beautiful to look at and even more beautiful to play. Nice low action makes this guitar quite easy to play and the sound is top-notch. Electronic tuner is easy to use and very accurate. If you are looking for a guitar that is mid-priced but worth hundreds more, this is the one. Buy this guitar, you won't be sorry!
This is a big guitar with a big beautiful voice. It looks good with its variety of woods and trim. Wonderful action on mine. Gentle 'V' style neck is very comfortable and seems to fit my hand perfectly. Fast action for riffs and solos. It's just plain easy to play. The tone wood combination is great. Deep clear sound provides excellent highs with the bass and mids rosewood is known for. All this with the projection and volume of a big dred. It just sounds great with strumming, picking or finger style. The body is big, deep and surprisingly omfortable to hold. May be too big for smaller players though. The electrics are decent. Offers good EQ control and sounds good. Gets a little 'quacky' if you pick it too hard. I have the Alvarez condenser mic coming. We'll see what that does to the sound. This guitar has a sound that rivals that of much more costly instruments. The only less than stellar rating I gave it was because of the construction. Everything is solid, but I can see excess glue on several joints. Still good, just not perfect.
I own a couple other Alvarez models and am very happy with them. I read some reviews on this guitar and knew I had to get and I am not disappointed! Beautiful solid Rosewood back and sides. Solid Engelmann Spruce top. Matte black and gold tune keys. Understated but elegant cosmetics but most importantly, this guitar sounds AWESOME. I cannot put it down. Electronics and built in tuner are first rate. The neck is a bit thick but it is subtly triangulated in the back affording easy playing. I am very very happy with this guitar.
