OVERVIEW

A redefined entry-level guitar with full-scale neck, spruce top, and mahogany back & sides.

The Alvarez RD16CE Regent Series Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Cutaway is a serious guitar and constructed using many of the same components and techniques used in building their higher-end instruments. It sounds and plays superbly well and is a classi- looking dreadnought.

The RD16CE has a spruce top and mahogany back and sides, classic tonewoods that generate a warm and well-balanced tone. Alvarez have made the neck profile on Regent Series a little finer so they're easier to play and every model is constructed using a dovetail neck joint that optimizes the transfer of energy between the neck and body.

This acoustic-electric version features a preamp with a 3-band EQ and built-in tuner, and is equally at home both on and off stage.

All Regent Series instruments are fitted with the Alvarez bi-level bridge to carry more vibration to the top, which improves tone and resonance, and the PPS saddle and nut help to improve response and sustain.

This instrument has also been finished using an electrostatic painting process for a more even finish that uses less paint in its application. This allows the guitar to sing a little more and it also looks fantastic.

Premium die-cast tuners deliver tuning stability.

Comes with the Alvarez Limited Lifetime Warranty. Case sold separately.

First of all I was impressed with how beautiful the wood on the this guitar was/is. Very amber top and you can see the grain of the wood. I love the satin neck. My hands are clammy and the satin makes it easy to move my hand. Nice low action. Very easy to fret. I was impressed that a quality control tag came with the guitar with measurements on both E strings at the 1st and 12th frets, and initialed by two people. That shows me they pay attention to it before shipping. It has a fret buzz on the A string at the 2nd and 3rd frets. Easy fix though. The electronics and built in tuner are very good. There is a battery slot on the outside of the body by the amp input. Great tone. I am very excited about the quality of this guitar for this price. Very happy.

Unfortunately, if a guitar is not playable, I have to give it the thumbs down.

It's a shame because I love Alvarez's. I bought a different RC16CE for my son from a local music shop, but I tried it (and several other guitars) out in person before buying it. I highly recommend playing/inspecting a guitar in person, before buying them. in particular, the quality can vary greatly for acoustics.
Unfortunately, the guitar I received was not playable. It buzzed terribly, especially on the top 3 frets and top 3 strings, and the intonation had some problems. The finish was peeling badly on a 2 - 3 inch area of the backside, and there were some other visual indications that the guitar just wasn't made well.
If it's not playable, it's not worth anything.

Comments about Alvarez RD16CE Regent Series Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Guitar:

I cannot offer a fair review of the guitar, but I can offer a review of my experience with Musicians Friend. This guitar arrived with the head and half of the neck snapped completely off, and there was no damage to the shipping container, indicating a clear quality control issue. When contacting MF, they offered a return shipping label, but would not do an exchange or timely refund. I have to ship it back, wait 3-5 days for the refund to process, then place another order and wait a week for it to arrive and hope it is in better shape. Ultimately I get to wait a full month to have a playable guitar. Did MF try to help me? No. Did they even apologize for the inconvenience? No. I will not be using them again - this is unacceptable in the age of e-commerce.

Comments about Alvarez RD16CE Regent Series Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Guitar:

This guitar has some very impressive features on it. It stays in tune for days unlplayed. The electronics are great. Very easy to fret. This guitar would be great for anyone not looking to spend a load on a name.
Very impressive guitar for the money. It has great resonance and is very easy to fret. The electronics blew me away. By far one of the best sounding guitars I have ever played for under $$$. Has a better sound than some of the guitars that cost around $1000.
Great quality. Good construction. Very impressed.
Best bang for the buck. Great value for such a great guitar.

Comments about Alvarez RD16CE Regent Series Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Guitar:

I was blown away when I opened the box it came in. A very nice instrument!!I found no fret burrs, no string buzz, no loose tuning keys & no blemishes. The action was a bit higher than I prefer, but that was very easy to fix by adjusting the neck. It sounds great, plugged & unplugged. Well worth the money.

Comments about Alvarez RD16CE Regent Series Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Guitar:

Hello everyone I've been playing guitar on and off for almost 25 years. I've was in the market recently and was looking for a really decent guitar to play at church or at home with family and friends. Something that wasn't really expensive, but played easy and sounded good. I looked online for weeks and was in a Guitar store a bunch of times not far from where I lived playing everything that was in my budget. I figured I could find something decent. I saw a guitar online that was in my budget and was just a beautiful looking guitar. When I finally received it I was extremely disappointed. I change the guitar strings had the neck fixed cause it was bowed and it was still not what I wanted. So I was on the hunt again. I traveled to a different Guitar store like an hour from me and began playing what they had in my budget. Unfortunately I have a Martin and Taylor taste on a Mitchell budget. I narrowed it down to three guitars. 2 Fenders and the Alvarez RD16CE that was sitting at the very top. I had to get a ladder just to get it. After playing all three for like 3 hours I kept picking up the Alvarez and could not believe how easy it played and how great it sounded. I was also impressed that it had a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides. The Fender and the Alvarez were identical. Size, sound, wood and the playability. I chose to go with the Alvarez, the color was much nicer and it was less. If you're looking for a great sounding and playing guitar at a low budget check this one out. It just might surprise you. Again this was my experience don't know about anyone else. Hope it helps thanx for looking.

        Solid Guitar at this price

Comments about Alvarez RD16CE Regent Series Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Guitar:

I have been playing for 20+ years and bought this for my nephew's first guitar. I wasn't sure what to expect from such an inexpensive guitar, but I was most pleasantly surprised! I had the guitar shipped to me so I could set it up, change strings, etc., but to my shock, it emerged from it's cardboard box in fantastic playing shape. Bright, resonant, intonated, with a really good action and feel to it. The electronics are satisfactory (again, for the price) and the tuner is accurate and works well. I checked it against my strobe tuner, and it's pretty close! Now, for the kicker: I got this on the SDOTD promo for and even better deal! This is darn good guitar! Fit and finish are commendable, playability is good, and sound is not bad at all! I am very pleased with this guitar! And I also grabbed the MF Dreadnought Hard Case, which fits perfectly! Merry Christmas!

I am a gigging musician and do a lot of dinner shows. I use this guitar all the time. I have a $2500 Martin and hardly ever use it. The Alvarez RD16CE tone is great, smooth and easy on the ears. The fingering is great and plays like butter. I cannot say enough about this guitar. I absolutely love it. If you get a good one you won't be disappointed.
