To start I got this guitar about 2 months ago. This guitar sounds so nice. It has a rich bright sound. Has nice bass, as well as bright highs. I put Alchemy string's on this, and Wow! I cannot believe the sound this guitar has, and it just keeps getting better. I have the natural gloss, and let me tell you, these pics dont do this guitar justice. This is a beautiful guitar. The on board tuner, is very very nice. but you wont ever use it. Since I have put the string's on, it has yet to be out of tune. I have never seen a guitar hold a tune so well. Sounds wonderful pluged in too. I have been playing for about 2 years. I have played Takamine's, Martins. side by side, this guitar is neck and neck with Martin. I know you wont be disapointed. Wow Alvarez. My next purchase will be a Alvarez 12 string.

bought this guitar after great reviews and a good sale price. thinking i got hthis 200n cheaper was a great idea. when it arrived with an action like a cello and rusty strings i didnt touch it for six months. got a guitar tech to set it up for me who was afraid to sort the truss rod in case it snapped was not what i wanted to hear. he hates it but has got it down to an ok guitar. not worth the monet . if id paid full cash price i would be really pissed off. just paid 700 for a scond hand Dean that is magic so im not scared to pay

Great guitar, but could use better electronics

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I got this guitar in March of last year, and it sounds great. The quality is great for the price and it has a really nice acoustic sound. The only problem I have is with the electronics. Other than that, it is a good guitar, and I would recommend it to anyone. Just make sure you turn down the volume if you leave it alone while plugged up to a PA.

GREAT BUY!

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I bought this guitar a couple weeks ago, and let me tell you, it's awesome. I have it in natural, so along with the mahogony neck and sides, it has a sleek, beautiful look. The specialized saddle, single cutaway, and included tuner make this guitar a great buy. This guitar has a great sound, plugged in or not. All in all, a great guitar, perfect for all styles and levels.

right outta the box!

By stache187

I am really impressed with this guitar. I don't foresee needing it set up for any reason. Plays and sounds amazing. For the money, and it being my first guitar I couldn't ask of for more. The on board tuner out-did my expectations. Quick and easy. This thing played great right out of the box. A+

Great Guitar

By 3DBeend

from Scranton, PA

I got this guitar because I wanted something to be able to use when I'm just messing around with my friends at home. I am a bass player and before I got this guitar, I only played guitar when I wanted a break from bass. I picked the Alvarez because it was relativley cheap, and it sounded great. Since I have gotten this guitar, I haven't found any other that sounds as good with the exception of a few Taylors. I would recommend this to anyone with a limited budget, all the way up to a semi-pro musician.

FYI...this is NOT a starter guitar. Not to say that a beginner shouldn't buy it - on the contrary. What I AM saying is that the seasoned player will enjoy this guitar. I compare it to my PD90, and must say playability is comparable, even tho' the PD cost $350 more. Really nice work, Alvarez

Good guitar for the $

By RvsJ

This is an awesome guitar. It has a very bright sound with impressive overtones for the money. The onboard tuner is EXTREEMLY handy for playing with alot of different tunings. Sounds great plugged in its no taylor but for the money it's a great buy.

Great Guitar

By AlvRD20SC

from New York

I have been playing guitar for 9 years now, mostly electric. I picked this up as my first acoustic about 2 years ago. Its a great guitar, I've never had problems with anything besides a little fret buzzing. For the price it is a great guitar, I'm not going to say that it stands up to taylors and martins because that just isnt true. But to other guitars in its price range its the best. It blows my roomates Yamaha out of the water, there's just no comparison. Alvarez makes a great guitar and im looking to get another soon.

Awesome sound and tone

By Soloist2000

I bought this guitar so that I would have something decent to play at church. I have been playing for 24 years and counting, mostly Rock at clubs and bars. I wouldn't hesitate taking this to the next open mic night at the local coffee shop. This has to be the best sounding Acoustic Electric I own. I also have Fenders (decent), Washburns (OK), an Ovation (beautiful, but lacking substance), and Deans (not pleased with them). Nothing compares to the richness and fullness of this guitar (at this price range). Even the strings it comes with are worth using for a while. Don't let this item get by you. You will regret it.

The perfect acoustic!

By dlheidemann

from Fairfield County, CT

This was my very first guitar and I've had it now for about 10 years or so and its still kicking strong and sounds great! It handles alternate tunings really well and has a great range of tone no matter how you have it set up.A strong recommendation for any beginner, enthusiast, collector, pro, anyone! This guitar is simply great.

Great little acoustic

By AndyMan!!

from Des Moines, IA

This is a very well balanced acoustic from the tone, feel, and action it's a great bang for your buck! The built-in tuner is it's greatest feature, giving you a spot-on tuning for any working musician. The tone of the guitar is also very well balanced. It gives you the low-end warmness of a 'Martin' and the high-end treble of a 'taylor'. It is a well balanced guitar. The only critique is the built-in pickup. The middle strings' volume is cut in half compared to the low and high strings, so you may want to have the pickup adjusted. Otherwise, purchase and enjoy!

This is a must have

By pastorskid

from Summerfield, Fl

This an absolutely amazing guitar. I have the sunburst. The picture doesn't do it justice. You wouldn;t think its the same guitar. The on board tuner works great. Very accurate. The sound is nice and rich. It has one of the best acoustic sounds you can get. It's definitely not a beginners guitar. Great guitar. This is a must have.

Great Guitar

By Kudzu 48

from Yuma,Tennessee

I purchased my RD 20 SC 2 years ago and have had no problems with it at all. I would recomend this guitar to anyone thinking of purchasing a much higher priced guitar. I can leave it in the case for a week at a time and take it out and it don't need tuning. I truly love it.

A steal for the price

By Charles Burns

from Bloomfield, NJ

Alvarez makes excellent instruments for the price point and this guitar is no exception. It sounds great without without amplification, and has amazing tone. It's sturdy, easy to play (great action) and has a really deep resonance when strummed or picked. It even sounds good when played through effects. For the money, you can't get a better deal.

I have owned mine for 2 years now. I like the sound but I wish it had a little more bottom end. Unplugged it sounds good but plugged in it becomes a even better sounding guitar. In this price range I have not heard one that sounds better.I haul it around from church to church gig to gig and it is a work horse. I am very happy with mine.

Alvarez RD20C

By Boltfan-CwbCX

from San Diego

Wow! What can I say. I have had my Alvarez for a few weeks now and can't say enough about it. It is a great guitar for a great value. My friend with a Martin was impressed with it and couldn't believe the price. My biggest concern was the action and thought I would have to get some work done, but out of the box I couldn't have asked for anything better. If you are looking for a sub 400 guitar, then this is it.
