Outstanding guitar. Sounds crisp and clean, plugged or unplugged. Beautiful lines and decor.
- Was this a gift?:
The woods on my Yairi are beautiful; and that is how it sounds! Very nice detail work, and the set up was basically for my size of strings and playing style. The neck is more narrow than some dreadnoughts, which makes it a breeze to play. The electronics do not take any of your tone away, and as a matter of fact- I think it sounds even better plugged in. Try a Genz-Benz Shenandoah amp, and for Pete's sake, do not lose your sound quality by buying cheap guitar cables! There is a Huge difference between cheap and good cable. Try what Lava Cables have to offer. My only down mark is the hardshell case. It is cloth like, with leather like trim. It is getting dirty real fast, and it isn't as sturdy as I wish it would be. You will not regret this guitar.
I got my DY62C about four years ago. It has been the best purchase I have ever made. Not only is it a beautiful, it plays better than it looks. The guitar is better than any Martin, Gibson, or Taylor I have ever touched. Nice action, plays well for chording or picking. Electronics are absolutely amazing! It will be the last guitar you ever need!
This is not my favorite guitar but it is well built and made of quality materials. Its sound is a bit subdued but unplugged it is fun to play. But it will not supplant my Martin. It is a good guitar and I have to see it is a beautiful guitar. Sound wise the Martin D-15 and D-16 are superior and I clearly play them more.
If you are considering a DY62C, stop thinking and buy! I own and have owned the best guitars available, this one ranks among them. It is not the boomiest guitar in the world but on stage plugged in it is unbeatble. Evenly tonated and supurb electronics make the only acoustic Ill take on stage. Words do not do it justice...own one and experience it for yourself.
I have performed with Kazuo Yairi guitars for 22 years and this is my absolute favorite in all areas,(tone ,action , good looks, you name it!)The 62c can deliver sweet mid range that I do not seem to get out of other guitars and it keeps getting better. One thing you should do is to use D'adario EJ16's on this guitar, you will be very glad you did!
This is an amazing instrument at any price. I've been playing 30+ years and owned/played them all. I managed to pick up an older DY62C real cheap on ebay. I replaced the older T preamp with the MKII and added the in-body mic. The tone is the best I've heard. It is extremely full and resonant, yet very articulate. I think this is due to the unique Yairi bridge which attaches the strings directly into the top (look close at the bridge, it is very cool). The neck shape is very comfortable, smooth and fast. The guitar is beautiful and simply appointed. I like its' understated elegance. Workmanship is tops. I like that it is not what everyone else is playing these days. People regularly come up after a performance and ask "what is that, it sounds amazing!".
I?ve played for 38 years and played Martins, Taylors, Gibson and several custom built guitars, this guitar is amazing to play and the sound that comes out of this guitar is second to none! I would recommend this guitar for any serious musician.
I have been playing for over 30 years - This is a great guitar. It plays light and very fast - the action is excellent. It projects well plugged in or unplugged. I love yairis, and this one is first rate. They are built to play. Just bought mine used with the 600 series electronics. If you are looking - go for it.
I've owned this guitar since 2002 and never want another. It is extremely smooth to play and the tone are unbelievable. The first time I played her I knew she would be mine. If you are serious about having an amazing instrument the DY62C is the guitar for you. I have people ask all the time if it is a martin or taylor based on the sound. I smile and let them know that it is an Alverez Yairi. I love this guitar.
