Comments about Aria AP-STD Parlor Acoustic Guitar:
Just a super sounding guitar. Easy to play due to it's size.
This is a small-bodied guitar, but it's as thick as a regular concert or dreadnaught guitar. The fit and finish was excellent, and while I prefer a satin finish, the poly was flawless. I installed a set of 11-46 Dean Markley Cryo acoustic strings and adjusted the neck tension accordingly.
Wow! What a big tone this guitar has! The low end was clear and loud, and the mids and high end just sparkled. I was pretty impresssed. So impressed that I installed a Fishman Neo-D passive pickup and hard-wired it to an end pin jack. This little baby just sings now! Very sweet and atrticulated sound, with every note clear as a bell. I love the sound of this guitar, and it's size makes it very comfortable to play. First time for a cedar top, as I have a solid spruce and a solid mahogany top on various guitars. I really like the balance of the solid cedar top.
So I'm a very happy camper now.
Assembly and fit and finish was excellent. No issues at all.
Terrific value for the money.
Comments about Aria AP-STD Parlor Acoustic Guitar:
I got one of these on special that had a bridge pin problem on the low E string - I was able to fix it with a minimum of tinkering.
Nice enough guitar apart from that, which was not really any big deal - the overall fit and finish was good - nice straight neck - good action and intonation - frets were OK.
If you are expecting this to be a smaller guitar, it has the same scale-length as a dread - it might be an inch or so shorter in total length, but it's a pretty good sized instrument, except for the narrow body. I mention it, because if you are like me, and like experimenting with little gits - that's not really what this is - I sort of expected it to be about 3/4th its size. For the small body, it's got a pretty good sound - not the volume or depth of a dread, but pretty - good sustain. It's got about a 1/32 of poly on the top - it has that nice deep reflective gloss finish, but I alway wonder why bother with a one-piece cedar or sitka top, with all that dense poly - it might as well be a piece of formica.
Anyway, a pretty decent guitar overall - something a little different - I'm happy with it. Joe.
Comments about Aria AP-STD Parlor Acoustic Guitar:
I bought This guitar because it was on sale but it turned out to be junk. The 6 string bridge hole was drilled out to big and every time I tightened the strings the pin would shoot out like a bullet. Watch your kids eyes. Instantly returned it.
Comments about Aria AP-STD Parlor Acoustic Guitar:
I bought this guitar because I like the smaller size guitars. I sit in my lounge chair a lot to play and the small guitars are great for that. The solid cedar top sounds great, a little softer than spruce. Construction is fine. I have never heard of a guitar falling apart as described in another review and don't think that will happen with this one. I have a 1960's Aria classical and it has not fallen apart yet. I have not heard of them building a bad guitar. I did adjust the saddle to lower the action and change the strings to Martin green pack. I plan to play it and enjoy it for many years.
Comments about Aria AP-STD Parlor Acoustic Guitar:
I just want to add to my previous post. When I adjusted the saddle to lower the action I sanded down the ssddle with my bench top belt sander and it was made of the good stuff, probably Tusq. It was very hard and smelled like grinding bone. The cheap guitars always have a soft plastic saddle. This good saddle is an indication of an up graded guitar.
Comments about Aria AP-STD Parlor Acoustic Guitar:
When I first took the guitar to my luthier here in Nashville the saddle slot was off by 3/8th of an inch so the intonation was way off. Guitar, however looked and sounded great so I felt is was worth the fix. 3 weeks later the guitar basically fell apart. Neck twisted, bridge pulled, and neck block was loose. Basically unplayable. I think I now know why most of the parlor guitars are 12 fret, not 14 fret. The guitar I bought was probably a one of a kind bad one, but it cost me $300 bucks to put it back together, and it ain'y worth it. I guess you get what you pay for. Finish was fine, and from the outside the guitar looked good. The inside: they used 3 pieces of laminate on one side and 2 pieces on the other. Poor workmanship, and looks cheap. Actually, with it all put back together it sound pretty good, but NOT worth the money. Frank in Nashville
Comments about Aria AP-STD Parlor Acoustic Guitar:
Received this guitar with moderate expections and it could not even match that. I had to file the sharp frets and of course adjust the neck. The sound was shallow so I put on some Elixirs, but still very frail sounding. What bothered me the most was the fret buzzing so I had to shim up the saddle. The neck is not straight after it joins the body. I looks nice, but is not a Yamaha or Takamine. I would never buy another Aria and my granddaughter will be getting this one soon.
Comments about Aria AP-STD Parlor Acoustic Guitar:
I'm very impressed by this pretty little guitar. Very nice wood, no flaws in construction, nicely detailed. I prefer small bodied accoustic's & have had several, but haven't had one for awhile. I was not familiar with a Cedar top but it sounds fine. Good even balance to the sound, plays fine up the neck.Think I'll be happy with this guy for a long time.
