The American Badwater SRO is the Axl version of a true American classic. The Seymour Duncan Five-Two pickups on the AS-1120 Badwater Pro model are a unique mix of Alnico 2 magnets on the treble strings for warmth and a softer attack, and Alnico 5 magnets on the bass strings for punch and brightness. Axl's "Super- 7 switching" utilizes a push-pull pot to engage the bridge pickup regardless of switch position - adding two more pickup combinations for even more versatile tone shaping. CTS pots are connected by cloth-covered wire, and Orange Drop capacitors give a creamy, classic tone. A true-vintage-style bent-saddle bridge and TonePros Kluson tuning machines have the proper weight and sound just like the instruments from the 1950s. Every fret is hand pressed with some of the highest quality fretwire available; then leveled and dressed for flawless playing in any register. Combine all of those parts with a solid alder body and maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, a Graphtech Tusq nut, and a finish unlike any other available for a distictive tone platform..

By no means is this a beginners guitar,this is a really great versitle guitar w/ alot of sonic options,moves outside strat territory,I don't compare it to a strat.perhaps the pickups and the electronics move this baby into it's own realm.A pleasure to play,naturally when you recieve this of course it needs to be set up.ALL guitars do.I set up myself,have been doin it for 15 years,get it where you want it and it sings !
Perfection well those who seek it should resign to realizing they are or will be forever dissapointed! This guitar may not have the best neck pocket etc. BUT when played acoustically ,then plugged in IT DOES SATISIFY. I mean I have 5 strats,from players to eric Johnson.do you really think FENDER does not cut corners.think again! This guitar resonates big time!! The electronics and the nut and bridge are top of the line,yeah try to get that elesewhere,upgrade city! I own over 20 guitars,both my charvels are impressive as well,fitted w/ di marzio and seymour duncans. I know build quality and I do upgrade when needed .when you get this guitar plug in , leave it be and play
every co.is price mineded off the production line.thats it -hands down,but here you get all the upgrades,and the overall sound makes this guitar very versitile,the pickups are sick.very well thought out instrument, I believe the wood quality is fine.face it on my epi dot and casino,of course I swapped the pickups,those guitars sound great now! common the edge plays an epi from time to time as well!
as mentioned ,I own alot of guitars ,the value here is 2nd to none! these guys THINK about what they build.BTW I also own their Jazz Guitar LOHAR 650,grab hold of that and play it,you'll see what I mean

The quality of electronic components does little to overcome the lack of quality wood and a loose neck joint. Overall this instrument may be better if they spent some time backing up their "Handmade" in the USA claim. I think consumers prefer honesty over the exageration of the location of manufacturing. The instrument does fit in with the long list of little known manufacturers selling entry guitars. The final question is will they be there to back up a warranty or support spare parts the way other well known companies do years later.
The features in this low entry level guitar do make this a stand out but lacks puch of the higher quality instruments. The pickups have a problem overcoming the lack of quality wood and the finish while being a different is there to cover up the poor wood on the model I tested.
The electronics are the stand out but really appear to be used to cover up the lack of quality put in the instrument. DO NOT BE CONFUSED by the made in america claims. The model I tested was from china and like many similar companies try to cover their claims by assembling some minor portion or screwing on the pick guard, etc. The fret wire is poor and the neck itself uses a poor quality grade that has a problem with deflection and doesnt stay in tune well.
The value here is ok for a beginner or kids model but has little or no resale value on the market. AXL who? But there are some intro level guitars from other manufacturers who have a better resale and more marketable product.
