OVERVIEW

The shredding starts here.

The B.C. Rich ASM 1 is an electric guitar that is not short on looks or features! Reliable and growling B.C. Rich B.D.S.M pickups coupled with a vintage style tremolo allow you to throw down your best riffs with style. B.C. Rich even added their signature hollowpoint inlays on the fretboard. The flat-top styling gives a bold and pristine look to the guitar's edge.

Bolt-on Construction

A number of B.C. Rich guitars use a classic bolt-on construction. On these guitars the neck is connected to the body with 4 bolts. This construction offers some added flexibility in the guitar's adjustment and provides the option to change the neck in the future.

B.C. Rich BDSM Pickups

B.C. Rich designed their BDSM humbucking pickups to provide a solid sound and to be durable while delivering high output. BDSM stands for Broad Dynamic Sonically Matched. Which simply means that the pickup is designed to reproduce a wide range of frequencies accurately (broad dynamic). Then they are tested and matched in pairs (Neck and Bridge) by their inherent individual and signature tonal and output characteristics to give a solidly balanced tone (sonically matched).

The Assassin was introduced in 1986. It was a double cutaway that was a departure for the odd shaped models that B.C. Rich was known for up until that time. In 1986, there were other double cutaways that B.C. Rich began making with various headstocks, pickup configurations, controls and finishes. The ASM model was one of these double cutaways but was introduced much later. There was an ASM 1 and ASM 2, with slightly different shapes and point shapes, but the more pointed and sleek model eventually settled in as the standard ASM shape. The Outlaw originally had holes drilled in the upper bout, but later models were more traditional looking, they were mostly bolt on necks like most of the double cutaway B.C. Rich guitars.

I had missed this Guitar last time it was on sale, so I had setup an alert through MF to contact me when it would go on sale again. What a great feature. So after looking on craigslist for a guitar and sending emails to some sellers, I never got a response from 4 people. So then I get this alert in my email from MF stating the BC Rich ASM 1 was going on sale and this time I had the money. I ordered the red one, not the metallic red but a bright red. I pulled it out of the box when it came and was extremely happy. There were no flaws in this guitar. Plugged it in and tuned it. The action was good and itonation was a little off but man not by much at all. 24 fret, diamond shaped inlays and very nice finish. Frets were nice and smooth along the neck (no sharp edges). What a great price for a lot of Guitar.
24 fret maple neck, 1 vol and 1 tone, typical tremelo bridge, smooth pots, nice tuners
This Guitar was flawless, neck pocket was tight, pickups were straight and inline with the strings, action was nice, tuners felt very smooth, finish was very nice.
I got this on sale and worth every penny and really worth the normal low price too

Comments about B.C. Rich ASM 1 Electric Guitar:

you get your bang for you buck. The sound is incredible, and the bridge is perfect because the parts can be replaced since Stratocaster parts can be put on it.
Rosewood neck is great, Bridge is great because parts are easily replaced and doesnt go out of tune when using whammy bar.
comes out of a box and electronics are loose at first but easy fixes.
does very well as a metal guitar

Comments about B.C. Rich ASM 1 Electric Guitar:

I love my B C Rich ASM 1 and can only offer praise for it. I gave it a 9 because I would like to see it carried to the next level.
The B C Rich ASM1 has a volume knob and a tone knob with a three position toogle switch. It also has a tremolo and two humbuckers.
I own a Fender Stratocaster, which is a work of art.The B C Rich ASM1 produces a different tone but the reproducibility and smoothness of performance establishs a sense of confidence any musician can benefit from.
I paid a comparable price for my B C Rich ASM1. I would compare it to instraments costing much more.

I love the sound of this guitar

Comments about B.C. Rich ASM 1 Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar for the money. it's the fist low cost guitar I have bought that has good sounding pick-ups. I would gig with this guitar.
The neck is wide and shallow. The string spacings seems wider than a Strat, which I like. The pick-ups are pretty versatile but shine for leads and metal. I got the white one. It is not a stark white, kind of an ivory white. The diamond inlays on the fingerboard are cool. 25.5" neck so it's easy to finger high up the neck.
The quality seems great. Finish is good. Set up well out of the box. No flaws that I could find.
For the money this guitar rocks. I originally got it for my daughter but, she gave up guitar to comcentrat on the piano. When I started fooling around with it I found that it was a very cool axe for the price I paid. It now part of my collection.

Comments about B.C. Rich ASM 1 Electric Guitar:

I am prediminately an acoustic guitarist with several high end Taylors and Martins as well as a New Age style keyboardist. I bought this guitar to jam with my band and provide a little "crunch" that I couldn't with the acoustics. Man...am I amazied what this guitar can do! Plug it into my Peavy amp and this thing wales. Add a fuzz tone foot switch and it rocks with the best of them.

I highly recommend this guitar for both beginners and intermediates!

Comments about B.C. Rich ASM 1 Electric Guitar:

I wanted a quality, inexpensive guitar as a gift to my daughter's boy friend. This fit the bill. I set it up and played it a little when I received it. Set-up was identical to my Strat, and the sound and playability was good. I won't be ashamed of gifting this relatively inexpensive guitar.

Comments about B.C. Rich ASM 1 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar a couple of years ago for two reasons: it had two humbuckers, and the price was right. I've since moved on to playing higher quality instruments but I still play the Asm for fun. It stays in tune, very comfortable to play and it doesn't break the bank. I learned all the basics of playing on this guitar and it does hold alot of sentimental value. Had alot of fun with the Asm. I had an Emg 81 placed in the neck position by a friend and that certainly upped it's sound quality, but the original humbuckers aren't that bad. I've heard much worse. B.C. Rich builds quality instruments even at entry level. I might have this guitar sitting around in a gig bag for weeks or months at a time, but it's still in tune when I break it out. Impressive. I would definately recommend this guitar to a beginner or someone who needs a cheap yet reliable standby.

Comments about B.C. Rich ASM 1 Electric Guitar:

pretty guitar that plays well, need I say more.
Look, this is not a high end Gibson, this is lower priced guitar that does what it is supposed to. it sounds nice, the frets are nice, the pick-ups are exceptional for the price, and overall, the fit and finish is superb.. If someone stole this from me, I would go nuts. I am not an excellent guitar player, I am your average guy that just wants to play and have fun, this guitar enables me to do that (right out of the box) All I had to do was tune it and play.. for the excellent musicians out there, this would make a great back-up for you - one that you will find you cannot live without.
just noticed the volume control when up all the way has a bit of a scratch.. not a big deal, I dont turn it up all the way.
look at the price, then look at what you get... excellent

Comments about B.C. Rich ASM 1 Electric Guitar:

I have owned for about a month and I have had zero problems with guitar. VERY solid construction. Plays buttery smooth. Great finish. Pickups are actually pretty great for this price range. Stays in tune pretty well. Only complaint is I wish it had more adjustment knobs.
