I always wanted this guitar since playing my friends years ago but just didn?t have the cash back then. After buying my Epi LP Classic last month (which is also a great guitar) I strolled into a local store here in NYC to buy some strings and spotted this guitar in spalted maple and had to play it. You know the outcome of that. I had to own it. When I ordered this they didn?t ask if I wanted a particular finish. I assumed I would be getting the spalted maple but when I opened the box it was the Koa finish which made my eyes pop out of my head. Simply Gorgeous! I did notice a small blemish on the fingerboard, second fret under the low E string, looks like a small ding but it played fine and it?s not that noticeable being that it?s exactly under the string. The photos on the web don?t do this guitar justice because it?s just breathtaking when it?s in your hands. Not to mention when you?re playing it, all you want to do is rip leads on it and that?s a problem when you?re trying to practice or learn new stuff, you get thrown off course and start shredding on it. The guitar was extremely playable out of the box. Installed some GHS 010?s and from the action, fretboard, sounds and balance of this guitar I cannot see how someone would not love this guitar. Get yourself in some good debt and BUY THIS GUITAR!
This guitar rocks!!!! I played this at my local B.C. Rich dealer and it has thee most wonderful tone and feel. The fretboard is very comfy and are easy to navigate. The pickups are not agressive but do have a chunky bite. Also the neck thru body design is so nice. It keeps the guitar ballanced and adds trumendous sustain. Bottom line if you have the money and are looking for a blues to a heavy rock style guitar BUY IT!!!
