High-output EMG pups and a Floyd Rose trem make this B.C. Rich a pro's Ironbird.

The B.C. Rich Ironbird Pro Electric Guitar looks amazing with its Onyx finish and offers professional features such as classic B.C. silver painted bevels, neck-through construction and an active EMG-81 humbucker. The Ironbird Pro guitar has the fire-power needed to heat up any stage.

Introduced in 1983, the Ironbird's angular lines and striking appearance have earned many loyal followers throughout the years. This guitar combines all the professional you've come to expect from B.C. Rich, such as neck-through design, 24-5/8" scale length, an EMG-81 pickup, Grover tuners and Floyd Rose Original tremolo.

B.C. Rich is known as one of the pioneers in Neck Through construction. They utilize it on many of their guitars, because it provides the best possible sustain, resonance, comfort and access to higher frets. Neck-through has long been considered the premium construction method for high-end guitars. This construction starts with premium maple or mahogany and runs from the tip of the headstock to the end of the guitar. This means that the headstock, fingerboard, pickups and bridge all are mounted to this single sound foundation. Sonically it is a difference you can hear.

Using a ceramic magnet, the EMG-81 active humbucker is a high-output pickup designed especially for the lead guitarist. The 81 is at its best for high volume overdrive and amps with a master volume. Whether you're playing power rock and roll, or overdriving your amp, there's a razor sharp attack, and incredible sustain for brilliant soloing. If you're looking for exceptional qualities in a rock pickup, the EMG-81 is the one.

Most of B.C. Rich body styles employ a beveled edge around the shape. In many ways bevels on a top are similar to facets on a cut stone. They catch the light and reflect at different angles giving the instrument more of a three dimensional look. Some of the B.C. Rich top bevels are extreme and wide while others are subtle and narrow. Occasionally the shape of the instrument is accented by painting the bevels a contrasting color.

Other appointments on this awesome shredder include C neck shape, 24 jumbo frets, 1-11/16" nut width, 12" radius, Floyd Rose Original bridge, Grover tuners, and a gloss finish.

An excellent, affordable, dependable choice for a gig guitar

      By Cappa Mezzacappa

Comments about B.C. Rich Ironbird Pro Electric Guitar:

If you're not used to top heavy guitars, this may not be for you. I personally love a bit of top heaviness; it helps the Ironbird stay in my hand for added control.
You can't beat the features for the price tag. High quality tone woods, a singing ebony fretboard, and simple inlays so as not to detract from the spalted tops on both the headstock and the body.

The stock 81 is a good pick, but if you prefer passive pickups, swap it out for an H4 with no soldering required. EMG has slide in connectors to make your life easier.

When it comes to amount of pickups, volume and tone potentiometers, I go by the logic of keeping it as simple as possible. The simple set up of one bridge humbucker and a volume pot leaves your rig to do the rest of the talking. Simple design also means that less can go wrong on the road, so you can work this guitar as hard as an Amish horse.

If you play leads, you'll enjoy the easy access to the high frets. You'll have no problem executing six string sweeps all the way down to the 24th fret.
The spalted maple finish is something to dream of. There are no noticeable seams or flaws that would slow down the action or otherwise contribute to a clonky feel.
In the past few years, B.C. Rich has regained its reputation of being a quality company that offers high end guitars with an excellent price tag.

      Battle Axe of Doom!

      By jamie boulanger

Comments about B.C. Rich Ironbird Pro Electric Guitar:

I'm glad B.C. Rich brought back the Ironbird. It is one of my favorite shapes they make, and they definitely did it with style too.
Neck thru killer looking body with a floyd rose and an emg-81. What else do you need?!
The silver pinstriping could've been done a little cleaner... but you really have to look close to notice. As close as perfect gets when you buy a guitar though...
      Can't beat the price.
