OVERVIEW

Impressive looks and versatile electronics.

The B.C. Rich Mockingbird Contour electric guitar is an affordable way to get impressive looks with enough sonic power to inspire the best in you. This eye-catching Mockingbird features a steep contour archtop mahogany body tastefully appointed with single-ply cream binding and a long-set mahogany neck, which is a deeper-set neck joint method than a standard set neck allowing for increased sustain and a contoured all-access neck joint usually only found with neck-through designs.

Other features include a 24 jumbo fret, 12 radius rosewood fingerboard with classic cloud inlays, single-ply cream neck and headstock binding, a tune-o-matic bridge and Rich Hot Hex pickups that are sonically matched to the guitar's design and feature coil-splitting via push/pull pot on the master tone control. Comments about B.C. Rich Mockingbird Contour Electric Guitar:

this guitar is probably the nicest player and looker I have, equal or superior to a Gibson I paid 5 times more. I did get the contour Deluxe model in natural, but this axe is so comfortable and light, you can play it all your sets and still have your shoulder function. Neck feels as if it was custom made for MY hands, sounds like a runaway tank, I play in an 80's metal band and this axe is absolute killer in looks and tone. Bottom line, of the mockingbirds, and I now have 7, ST, special X, lucite, special,thinline...this one is a must have, I may never play the others again, nice as they are. Get this axe, you will not regret it.Forget the Gibsons...I have...lol

Comments about B.C. Rich Mockingbird Contour Electric Guitar:

I started playing in 1984 and would have loved to had a guitar as good as this in the beginning. For years all I have played is USA made guitars, I do have a MIJ ESP, because I'm at the level that I like true instruments. A few weeks ago I got an email from Musicians Friend and this guitar was on sale. So I bought it and thought if it's junk I can always send it back. When I got it first thing I did was tune it up and start to set it up. But I didn't have to. The intonation was dead on and the neck relief was perfect. Plugged it in to my Marshall and played it for 2 hours. Couldn't put it down, The pickups are good but I installed a Seymour Duncan JB/59 in her and now it screams. They claim this is solid mahogany but while installing the pickups I don't believe it is. It may be laminated but they paint the cavities so I'm not 100% sure. It's very light. The fit and finish is great, neck is straight and frets are dressed like they should be. The neck is thin so it's great for shredding and comfortable access up to the 24th fret. The bridge and tailpiece are good quality and the tuners are solid and work great. I thought I would have to change them but didn't. As for electronics it has Alfa 500K pots and good selector switch. So in my opinion this guitar is very good and worth trying out. You can't beat it for the money. I know this review was a little long but I was very impressed with it and would have liked to had a review like this before I bought it.

Comments about B.C. Rich Mockingbird Contour Electric Guitar:

Is this really as nice as a guitar that cost 5X as much yes if fact one experienced reviewer had this to say " I've played many guitars in my lifetime, many of which cost 10-15 times what this Mockingbird Contour Deluxe does, and they have fallen short of the quality offered here. " I have the Deluxe model like these reviewers but that beautiful finish sold out at a much higher price and it is a good as a USA. I am also getting the gold at this crazy sale price and maybe the black too!

Great guitar, the quality, feel, and sound is that of the custom shop models. I purchased the black one and would buy another, if they were still available.

This guitar is almost flawless and sounds great! The split coils gives it that Strat sound as well.

Comments about B.C. Rich Mockingbird Contour Electric Guitar:

I have three B.C. Rich Mockingbirds and this is the most low end one I have. Although this is the most low end Mockingbird I own it's by no means a cheap/bad guitar at all. It plays fantastic and is just as comfortable as my Pro X and ST. It is the lightest of the 3 and although not neck through it is set through which means it has that awesome smooth signature comfort B.C. Rich provides on their neck to body joints. I did perform a mod on this guitar which was to remove the magnet on the neck pick up and flip it to reverse the polarity for an out of phase sound. This was really the only thing that was missing for me from this guitar because I have out of phase sounds on my other 2 Mockingbirds but now with this mod the guitar is absolutely perfect! There was a slight bit of fret buzz on the guitar but all it needed was a set up for it, in fact it was already intonated!
