OVERVIEW

A versatile guitar with all-solid tonewoods and deluxe inlays.

Traditional bracing with solid mahogany back and sides give the BR-140 a pure vintage sound. This understated yet, elegant guitar has a sound and vibe that's perfect for any style of acoustic music. At a price that's hard to beat, it has fine black and white top purfling with original abalone and pearl inlay work on the headstock that are touches of fine art. Other features include all solid Honduran mahogany back and sides and solid Sitka spruce top.

Blueridge is an offshoot of the South San Francisco-based Saga Musical Instrument Company. Blueridge specializes in "traditional" guitars that offer today's player vintage styling with modern performance at a level of quality and price that compares favorably to historic guitars. Each instrument is the result of detailed research and is carefully crafted at the Blueridge factory. Consistency is evident throughout, from the fretwork to the intricate inlays that adorn each Blueridge headstock.

Comments about Blueridge Historic Series BR-140 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I bought my BR-140 for a beater guitar. I didn't want to take my Martin HD28V some places for fear of it being stolen or damaged. I must say the BR-140 hangs with my Martin. It is louder and crisp. It would never replace my Martin but I would rethink any future purchases that cost was a factor. I would love to AB a BR160 vs my HD28V. Blueridge defiantly makes a quality product at a competitive price. Makes you wonder if the extra $1500- $2000 is worth it.

Comments about Blueridge Historic Series BR-140 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I have been playing Bluegrass for many years. I have seen heard and played many guitars. I had a martin DM that I traded on a Maitin D-16-RGT. that I like very much and will not part with, but I have missed the sound of the mahogany back and sides until I got this Blueridge guitar that is right up there with my Martin. in quality and sound. I had to do some setup on it to get the action I wanted but that is it. It's got a High quality big bold crisp clear rich full sound only found in the best. If I could only afford one guitar I would buy the DR-140. I have been blessed to be able to have both

Comments about Blueridge Historic Series BR-140 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This is my third Blueridge guitar. Musician's Friend consistently sends me flawless, first quality instruments. If anyone has any doubt, Blueridge guitars are first rate, beautifully crafted, beautiful looking, great playing as well as sonically wonderful instruments. For those researching and conflicted over their purchase, I also own a Martin MMV dreadnaught and have played D18s, D28s, HD28s and am amazed at what beautifully crafted, perfect and awesome sounding guitars they all are. I feel the exact same way about my Blueridge guitars. As a patriotic American I wish all my guitars were American made, but I have to live within my means and my desire to play the very best I can afford. This is a great guitar, comparable to the very best and most expensive. Go for it. I also own a Blueridge BR-140A and BR-160 and this review would also describe them accurately. They all have rich warm bass, perfect mid-range and bright, even, and sparkling highs. I've learned that for my tastes medium gauge strings are best on dreadnaughts and the thickness of your picks determine the warmth and/or brightness of your sound. Experiment with different strings and picks till you find which combinations you like. I believe you are sure to like your new Blueridge BR-140.

Comments about Blueridge Historic Series BR-140 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Excellent sound for the price. It's certainly no Martin, but it's pretty close for it's price range. Surprisingly close. It's loud. The mahogany back and sides give the nice vintage sound. It's light and resonant. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like years down the road, after the wood has really "opened up." Perfect for flatpicking and strumming. I wanted a guitar that had nice bassy lows and shimmering trebly highs. This guitar fit the bill perfectly after I changed the light strings that came on it and put some mediums. I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and I love it.

Comments about Blueridge Historic Series BR-140 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

First on-line instrument purchase. Didn't think I'd ever buy a guitar without playing it. Played other Blueridge models ( and was impressed) but wanted the one that was closest to my favorite, yet out of reach D18. Ordered the BR 140 as I couldn't find it anywhere. It arrived well packaged. I tuned it and that's it. Perfect! Sounds and plays even better than I expected. Rich, full tone. Great for all styles. Nice feel. Easy to play.
